Do these base timing figures for wide open throttle seem safe for 93 octane? Im working on det can set up, AFR low 11's. I have done quite a bit of research and I believe they are conservative but wanted to gain some input from some with more experience here.

More timing is needed.
These cars tolerate 0-3 around 3500,5-6@5500 then make it up to 11-14 by 8000 on most fuel. A big turbo car may take more on the bottom end of things with less cylinder pressure but don't get carried away.

These cars take moderate boost with low timing. 23+psi on that turbo with 12-14 out the top should be in the ballpark to start.

A dyno session is money well spent IMO. Safe environment to measure exactly whats going on.

 

thanks for the tips. currently I hit the wastegate at just a whisker over 4k (14psi). The car is running a 1.01 twin scroll gtx3582 gen 2, boost comes on pretty fast and am expecting 23-24 psi easily by 4250ish. Ive done some fuel mapping on the bottom end, and wanted to start ball parking the rest of the map with out being close to the edge of timing. I made some improvements to the timing since i read your suggestion, I will post it in a follow up. This has been a 5 year build getting the stuff together lol.

 

heres my updated following some advice. Keeping peak load/peak boost low for the time being until I start increasing the boost to actually find out where it hits. Sort of a mystery just yet...

 

Here are mine. 2006 EDM Outlander Turbo. Previous owner told me it wasn't tuned, but there's a blow off valve and many of the tables in the ECU have been modified so he either lied or just didn't know what he was talking about - he seemed pretty clueless about things (he didn't even know the AC compressor was removed from the car when he owned it) so the latter is most likely.

Everything else is stock, as far as I know - this is basically a detuned version of the EVO 8 engine, but I will be installing a 3" turbo back system soon.

Running on 98 octane most of the time, but gas prices fluctuate wildly (Norway) so I sometimes go for the 95.

 

Maps could see improvement for sure.

Choppy and large jumps of timing aren't great.

Power left on the table as well. I would start by smoothing them out and see where it puts you.

What kind of load values are you hitting?

Around 0-2 at 3000, 12-15 at 7500 is a good place to start.

 

Thanks. Should be reaching 200, having some tech issues with logging so had to order a 1.3 cable to see if that fixes it.

 

Your high Oct map is set pretty close to where I would start at around 200.

Still has some large jumps.

Yes, also rescale the y axis so you can have better resolution.

You don't need 11k+ obviously.
