is it ok to have ur car run the map with the timing like that all the time or should it just be flashed in at the track?

Depends how aggressive you go. If you want to see some improvement, you should go pretty aggressive, then you should dial in your map when going to the track only.

The improvement you'll have is during gear shifts, as boost recovery will be much faster... you don't have to use NLTS... just shift normally and you'll dramatically improve boost recovery.

As for lauch, just adjust use the lauch control and adjust the timing accordingly, this would do

just re-reading this thread...

how the hell can shameless run 6* at 25psi pk boost?

here I am worrying about knock at 1* 24psi...

obviously fuel matters, but AFAIK 93oct = 98RON which I am running... maybe its time to change servo!!

It all depends on the car and mod path. I've had a few cars that are good with 5-7 degrees and 25psi, and others that wanted 1-2 degrees. Cam choices, turbo choices, everything affects what you can get away with.

5 degrees on peak boost around 4800rpm (22-24psi)
13 degrees until 7800-8000rpm rev limiter

However i have to lean the car a little bit. I am running way too rich right now. I like rich during full boost but i have to lean out around 11.2-11.3 up top because now i am running 10.5-10.7s... Hopefully it will losen up a little bit and probably make more power...

In the coming weekends i will try the same map by adding 2-3 degrees of timing, 2-3psi more boost using Torco (i always have a drum sitting around)...

If I were you i'd go even leaner than 11.3
I used to have 10.5 afr (before i installed my wb). I had already tuned my car to the edge timing wise. When i installed the wb, I leaned it out to 11.5-11.6... the good news is I didn't have to drop the timing at all

i am not a supporter on leaned out cars on pump gas...

on racegas yes, i would go even 12:1 but on pump low 11s... Couple of weeks ago i did a test on the dyno and from 11.8 to 11.4 i didnt see a difference in power... Obviously i selected the richer version of the map...

i am a fanatic supporter of the saying.....better run rich than sorry...

and dont forget... one tank of bad gas is enough to make the car knock like a jackhammer especially if you ar that lean...

is that a function of the ECU leaning out?

OR is it a function of phsyics - ie ECU is still injecting the same fuel, but because the air is more dense it "leans" out?
