economy tuning
With the alarm output on a Zeitronix WB, you don't "need" a gauge (it doesn't come with one with their basic kit anyways). Just set the alram trigger points and install the buzzer/LED indicator to alert you if things go REALLY wrong...like in Bryans case.
I changed my timing map today to look similiar to mrfred's map and definitly noticed a difference on my drive to work. Much easier to stay out of boost while cruising. I did notice that I have a different exhaust tone during acceleration, found it interesting. Almost sounds meaner/deeper.
Next task is to wire the LC1 into my ECU to make logging easier.

Thats awesome, with the standard 14.7:1 closed loop I got between 300-320 mile before my light comes on. I fill up every week and checked my gallons to mileage and I averaged about 23MPG on the standard 14.7:1 setup. I gotta test it with a leaner AFR setup (been lazy, lol).
Funny thing is, I haven't even touched my fuel maps, (they are OEM) and lean spool is ENABLED. No closed-loop changes or anything fancy like that; driving at -30 vacuum @65-70mph the entire way -when on the expressway and zero boost when on the street of course (man that was HARD). I've backed this up on my last three fills all avg around ~27mpg with the same driving habits.
Yah, I haven't touched my fuel maps yet either, just used the zeitronix NB simulator set at 15.5.
On the last tank (a camping trip) I managed 28.8 mpg. That was with a ton of elevation changes (from 4,000 to over 10,000 ft), average cruising speed of 80mph, and the a/c on. Oh, and one jaunt from 75 to 145 in 5th... on a closed course of course
I've yet to add additional timing for cruise, I think that will be the next step (along with a clean air filter... lol). In town as of late I've been getting 22-24mpg, but that is with me driving "normally", i.e. fast starts, etc. We'll see what I can get in-town if I can stay out of boost for a bit.

I'm amazed at the mileage you guys are getting. I only get 20.0 mpg cruising around town with my tune and 14.7 afr for cruise. That's staying entirely off boost. What tire pressure are you guys running?

I notice a HUGE difference with mixed town/freeway compared to 90% freeway. I'm talking like 6-7mpg difference.
The speed also makes a huge difference. 65-70mph gives me great mileage. As soon as I go over 75 my mileage drops a ton.
My last tank, on 100 octane, tuned for 15.2-15.5 at cruise and higher cruise timing, I made 19mpg with mixed town/freeway driving, this included a ton of 29psi WOT romps as well.
Do you do stuff like leave the car in gear coming to a stop so the injectors shut off? That helps a bit.
I've never had a whole tank where I stayed out of boost in town, but like I said I still net 22-24mpg, so it's weird if you're only getting 20 with no boost at all.

So far I have averaged 26 mpg in two tanks with 70/30 freeway/street driving. I drive the speed limit or slightly less. Here in SoCal the speedlimit is 65 mph. I do not go into boost and keep the car in max amount of vaccum on the gauge.
