What is the purpose of using 2 byte?

What is the purpose of the 2 byte thing? Is it just better resolution from using 2 byte vs 1? Is the 2 byte load the same as the LoadCalc that EvoScan logs?

2byte = twice as much data

loadcalc != 2byte load... its close thou

If loadcalc is not the same as the 2byte load. Then what is 2byte load? What’s the use for it? Why do people log that?

2byte load is the actual ECU Load that is being looked up by the ECU. Load calc is an estimate of where the ECU should be looking. Or at least that's what I've gathered.

In other words, 2byte load is more accurate.

loadcalc is a best guess that ML or Evoscan makes based upon other things

2byte load is what the ECU is actually using to look up timing/fuel maps

Ok. If I make the changes for the 2 byte load will a tuner that uses ECUTak be able to read and flash my modified ROM? OR will it screw up things?

The program they use to read your logs should support 2byte load...that should be a minimum for a "tuner"

What program are you using to change your ecu settings? Ecuflash I assume?

It won't screw anything up. They will not even know that you've made the change unless you tell them.

Yes, I use ECU Flash but the tuner will use EcuTek for tunning. Does that mean that EvoScan does not read all the parameters that an aftermarket logger reads? Is that also true with EcuFlash? Will EcuTek has access to more tables for tunning?

I have not seen the ECUTek setup for an Evo 8/9, but based on what I have seen in ECUTek flashed ROMs, ECUFlash now has more tables than ECUTek.

EvoScan is an aftermarket logger. I think all loggers except the Mitsubishi MUT diagnostics utility are considered aftermarket loggers. Not sure what logging capabilities ECUTek has. Can't be any better than what EvoScan can do when EvoScan is combined with the ability to modify the MUT tables with ECUFlash to make virtually any parameter used by the ECU available for logging.

I guess my input would be 2byte load allow you to run map tracer (from Evoscan) to plot your load and rpm base on knock/afr/timing while Loadcalc don't.

nah its just about accuracy.

2byte is better because that's what the ECU uses.

loadcalc is just a guess - but its pretty good... log both side by side

To do the byte load in EcuFlash I need to modify the xml file right? I do not need to Flash the ECU for that right? What about EvoScan do I need to modify any file in EvoScan to run the MapTracer (BTW what is maptracer?) in EvoScan?
