Search "Shamless Tuning" as the thread creator, he started a while back a "post your timing tables" thread.

Just what I was about to say! To post maps you need to do a print screen of the map pulled up, copy it into MS Paint and save it as a PNG. Then uploaded it online somewhere and display it as a typical image. Just like using a JPEG.

Yes, VIII's can run more timing advance at the TOP of the map *NOTE NOT NECC AT PEAK LOAD* Start at ~2-3 and climb to ~18. Every car is different dependent on boost/mods/fuel, try it out to see what YOUR car likes/dislikes.

This is an example of what E8's like to see on 93octane. Every car is different, it's just a vague starting point, but should be pretty safe. I'd say start at 2 and climb to 14 with ~22psi, then if your car allows for it, increase evenly and gradually. Till the point you reach the MBT (minimum best torque) w/o detonation.

well i talked to a local tuner last night and he said that my timing looked pretty good. for some reason though my car isnt pulling like it should though. my afr is fine and the timing also. im showin 3 counts of knock in between 3500-4500rpm and he said it could be due to the engine being a little louder and i should adjust my knock sensor filter. anyone think of anything else that could be an issue.

Do a compression and boost leak test if your car isn't pulling like it should.

If you are getting 3 counts of knock between those RPM's try lowering your timing on initial spool up and see what happens. How many degrees of timing are you seeing at 3500-4500?

i know theres not a boost leak already tested. i replaced the hg a while back so it could be leaking possibly. im not sure on how much timing im running at those rpms but ill check it and post it up.

any of you know where i can find a compression tester?? i think like auto zone or advanced auto parts. do places like that carry those?? did another boost leak test today and found nothing. timing is fine, afr is a little off. today i noticed that at idle my afr has gone from 15.1 to almost 16.3. do you think it could be a failing fuel pump because ive noticed some odd whining coming from it. not the normal walbro 255 whine though. this is alot louder. it doesnt do it all the time though. im lost.

Do not adjust the knock sensor filter unless you know exactly what you are doing. These tables are generally not well understood and messing with them could leave the car without its defense: the ability to pull knock when something is going wrong.

Timing is dependent on car honestly (boost/afr)...but most VIIIs with the basic mods on decent fuel probably run between 2-3 at peak and 15 up top. 18 seems a bit high to me but it depends on boost/afr as stated before.

Post some logs of the car at WOT and I am sure some people on here can help you.

You should stay away from your local "tuner" if he is giving advice like that.....I wonder how many cars he has adjusted the knock filter maps for?

im glad i tune myself - thats just scary.........

actually the tuner is an evo and suby specialist. hes a certified tuner for both. he knows his stuff. he only suggested adjusting the table where i was having knock show up b/c of the engine being a little louder. i bumped it up 3%. this guys has tuned hundreds of dsm's and evos.
