Hmm. Its for 1.28 or greater. Interesting. I would test all the wires to the ecu. Make sure your getting proper power to 12 and 25 and also that pin 80 is getting power. Are you sure this is a good ecu or that your wiring is correct?

I'm having some weird power issues that seem to be unrelated to the new ECU. I am loosing power when any load is put on the radio circuit and I now don't have any power at the ECU which I suspect is related.

I just finished the install of an evo 8 ecu in my 92' Talon. Car was using an AEM Ems system.

Car started on the first crank and after tweaking the BBK throttle body had her idling at 1000 rpms. Car is a 2.3 motor with 1650 injectors and comp 101400 cams. I must say the car started and idled better with evo ecu. Also drove nicer with the twin disk.

I drove the car about a mile when smoke started coming from the engine bay was able to limp her back home. Totaly fried my MSD coils(one per cylinder) the car also has an AEM cdi box. The car ran fine before with aem ems. I'm thinking I need to set the cdi box for the rising edge signal and adjust the dwell setting. Does this sound right or does anybody have another idea?

Wiring is from the ecu to the cdi then to the coils no ignitor is used.

I am using an MSD DIS 2 box and 300m coils. I am very curious as to what happened here.

Just use the stock dsm igniter and coils. They work peffectly fine for a dsm with an evo ecu and good for 600+ hp.

I know the MSD box isn't great but I don’t want to mess with the ignition right now. The previous owner hacked the harness up and hardwired the MSD box in and I don’t even have any of the stock components. If I am not going to fry the thing by using it I am going to stick with it this year.

Any ignition gurus have some thoughts? I've attached a pic to show how the back of the coils cracked. I ran this COP on my car for a couple of years now so I know it worked, with the AEM ems system.

Would the windings on the coils play a part? I'm just looking to try and figure out why the system crashed. I think the next step is to fab up a 300m COP.

Tested out my Evo9 ecu in a 2G DSM patch harness today.

To my surprise it started on the first try.

Only issue I have is it runs very rich first 30 seconds after startup, other then that it works perfect.

And the MFI relay makes a loud click after flashing, scared me first time.

Haven't even got any CELs yet, but probably have to let it run a little longer.

Just adjust your injector size a little larger until AFR's are closer to 14.0-14.7 just after startup or tweak your fuel maps at idle (yes it reverts to the fuel maps at startup, not the O2 sensor). You're most likely in open loop for the first 15-30 seconds or so by default while the O21 sensor warms up so its running solely on the fuel maps and not the closed loop O2 sensor setup.

Hello L2r99gst,

I have a question about the MAF scaling in the V7 9653. In the V7 maf scaling table the values are much higher as in the stock Evo rom, maybe because the maf adder is included ?! My questions is that differences are 175.5 ? Or how did you scaled the DSM maf in to the evo ecu ?
I would scal my Outlander maf in the Evo 8 ecu. I have the Outlander maf scaling from his stock rom, so I have to add this adder value 175.5 in and shoud working ?

I attached a picture about my problem :

Has anyone had any luck disabling the CAS codes? Been having issues with the rev limiter on 9653 and trying to switch back to 9417. I copied the periphery data from the EDM rom but no success in stoping those codes.
