Do you use the same computer ?
Did you try a fresh install of Ecuflash, tephra v7 and definitions.
The Ecu uses a dead memory (ROM) to store data so unless someone flash it over, it doesn't get erased and doesn't need battery to keep data. Maybe your ECU is bad, but this is very rare.
I'm using the same computer i'll load it in and it has tephra on it and everything then unplug it for a day or so and go to read it, when i read it tephra is not there at all, only info is all my old tune. but for Evo 8 ecus that i've done for friends in the past its fine. i don't understand.

I used a fresh install as well

if the ecu has dead memory wouldn't my old tune not be there at all?

Sorry I'm out of ideas. According to the stock ECU manual, flash memory is 256k ROM and 12k RAM. We are actually flashing a 256k file.
So there is no way your ECU is storing the old tune elsewhere and reuse it a day after.
Last question: You are absolutely sure that your V7 flash is a success?
I wish you that someone chime here knowing exactly what is your problem

I'm just starting my tuning adventures and I am a little bit confused as to what the difference between the roms are.

I see that under USDM Evo IX I have the option of downloading the following mods:

8859X715

0 = MAF
1= Speed Density
2 = DMA (Live Map) + MAF
3 = DMA (Live Map) + Speed Density

First off, what is a DMA/Live Map ?
Second, is the v7 + mods simply a map that has been modified to have certain values or is this stuff that has been done in HEX to change the behavior of the ECU?

Finally, what are all the funky version below with no car listed? Do they work on my USDM Evo IX? Do the donation only versions come with additional features?

90550001 and 96260009 - "donation only" - meaning if you paypal me (whatever $$$'s its worth to you) I will send you the zip.. if you want it sent to another email address - put it in the paypal message
Thanks everyone!

8859x715 is the only version you care about on a USDM IX. DMA/Livemap means the rom should be prepatched to be able to tune the car with Ziad's EvoLiveMap software. This isn't available directly for IX's here but you can convert the rom to a livemap version with the ELM software.

The map with "mods" just has many settings pre-set to popular values. It's nothing you can't do on your own, but I prefer starting with this one as it's a solid base. If you use this map just be sure to setup the boost control method for waht you're using; by default it's setup for PSI-based ecu-controlled boost with a JDM MAP sensor.

If you want to use a MAF on your car, go with 88590715

If you wanna do speed density, then go 88591715

Dont worry about DMA (Live Map). DMA (Live Map) is the ability to adjust the map in real time, with no need to reflash. But it is pretty complicated and more for the really advanced computer users. Its is also not needed for the typical user.

On the base 8859 V7 I have its setup for load based boost control and the JDM sensor, not PSI based.

So what do the donation-only roms have? Just additional maps that have been discovered but not rolled into the public release?

What started all of this is I was looking for my decel fuel tables and could not find them....are they not in my version of tephramod (88590715)?

Thanks again

In Option 2 it says "Setup for JDM MAP and PSI based boost control (mrfred)"

They are completely different rom versions that aren't for Evo IX's. As I said, don't worry about them. They are for cars with "oddball" rom versions that relatively little people have.

Completely missed your previous post sorry about that. Any idea why I have no decel fuel tables in ecuflash? Do I have to manually add it in my definitions xml file?

Thanks again

if definitions are missing, first check your user level. Set to Developer to ensure you see everything available.

If still not there, then the definition needs to be created/entered into the XML.

cheers

Guess I downloaded the Option 1 then, since I setup all my own ROMs.

I have a tephra mod on an evo 8 euro and when i test the 2 steps launch with aggressive retard (30°) i can hear big misfires in the tailpipe and the boost come to 1,5 bar but when i want to go the car want to stall and i have poor idle during 2minutes.When i switch on flat foot shifting (NLTS) the car has poor reving , it is like i retrieve 15° of ignition.Then i press the clutch and rev the engine all is going well again and the car rev as usual.
I want to know if the know control is interfering with the launch and even with the NLTS?

What's your fuel like on the launch map? It could be too much fuel while on 2 step. You can also try being less agressive with timing. It's trial and error until you get it where you want, or where your car likes it.

I also have a EDM car, I think you can't use NLTS since the car is missing the second clutch switch. If you figure it out how to use it, let me know.

Hey guys, i believe this is the right thread to post this in... anyways, I just restored my computer and finally got ecuflash working. When I went to load up my current map, I see ever column besides "tephra mod" column.. I see timing, fuel, boost, etc.. any clue why? Im concerned if I were to do any re-flashing of the map or another map, I wont have the tephra mods. I have checked the map with the tuner and he said its the same file he has.
