launch maps
is that all because i dont have a cat i have a full straight pipe into a Espiller JGT 500 Muffler. and im not sure how long i am going to stay stock turbo but mine is in pretty good condition. say i wanted to tell my tuner exactly what kind of twostep i am looking for what would u say AFR's around what? and what kind of timing? or is it easy enough to do myself?
You shouldn't need launch maps on a stock turbo, I build 10psi at 5k rpm on mine with just the stock 2-step, which is plenty to get out of the hole at the drag strip.
Anyways, I haven't played around with them much myself so I don't know what AFR would be good. Timing would need to be in the negatives, probably below -10 if you want flames. There are a few examples of launch maps in here, check those out to get an idea of what you'd be doing.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damages incurred to your car from tuning it to shoot flames on the 2-step.

Launch maps have 2 settings to fulfill before being utilized--tps and speed. Does it matter what gear?
Let's say I have it set to 80% tps and 20mph. If I'm in 2nd gear and both requirements are met, does it switch me back to the launch maps?

it doesn't check gear.
What I wanted todo was change the speed trigger to a clutch trigger..
that way you could use the launch maps as antilag maps (sorta)
dunno how well it would work, but the idea was there

Ah ok. My thinking was that I could use launch maps as a de-tuned 1st gear map, so I can still use my stock clutch to launch with. My 420whp can hold fine while driving, it just can't on the launch.
Gear-based boost control should atleast help keep your stocker alive. Either way though, launching 400+whp on a stock clutch is bound to end badly eventually
And if you already have too much power for the stock clutch on launch, don't use launch maps, you'll just have even more torque from the added boost.

How does your car not hold in 1st but 3rd and 4th? Higher gears generate more power so usually slip way worse.
