loadfactor of 1.2 will allow a Max Loggable Load of 306, 1.3 = 331 , so i figured atleast set it to 1.6
hmm i didnt know that one thank you for that insight i would have been on the road trying to figure it out.

Nah Im happy with it 75% of the time. After i got my tune smoothed a bit the car felt much more smooth and strong. But now as we are trying to find this phantom knock issue ive got super low timing on the timing table. But if I upload the other map that was still conservative timing it feels nice and strong.

Were thinking possible issues could be:
- down-pipe rattling on the tcase making false knock (ive checked and couldnt see anything)
- maybe something with the cams?
- faulty knock sensor (doubtful)

I dont know its frustrating. The tuning itself seems like it could be pretty straight forward. The finding random things that go wrong is much more difficult. Especially when its cold and wet outside and I dont have a garage down here in CT....

Well figure it out im sure.

ya i was experiencing phantom knock from a improperly installed wideband o2 on my behalf being in a hurry. My adapter was hitting the heatshield causing nasty vibrations.

by chance do you have an extension on your rear o2? if so it could be pinned against the floor board causing issues, i noticed whoever owned my evo before me had a long extension on it so it wouldnt trigger the check engine light and it actually dented the floorboard under the car.... needless to say thats a old *** mod and no longer needed since we can disable that in ecuflash now.

Actually yes I do have two anti-foulers on my rear O2 sensor for this exact reason. It worked well with out any ECU mod's.. Of course when I put those on the rear o2 disable wasnt "discovered" yet hence why I have it. I know when I installed it that it wasnt hitting the floor board....but I just put a test pipe in and I remember twisting the mid pipe a little bit to get my high flow cat off. So theres a chance that it is now doing just that...I will look at that after work.

Thanks for the idea!!

Ill let you guys know...

remove the foulers and mod your rom with tephra, if you need help i can inject your old maps into the tephra. running a stock rom is dumb these days when you have tephra mods. id run the v5.10 for now tho to keep the small maps while youre still playing with the current tune.

Well id like to remove the anti foulers and use the tephra but I have a feeling that im going to run into problems trying to remove those. They have been in there for close to 4 years now and I dont think they are stainless.. I dont have a lot of tools with me here down in CT. And I remember triyng to get the 02 out of the sotck exhaust was a PITA to do for me as well. I can twist that midpipe pretty easily becasue everything is slip fit using band clamps. (Buschur exhaust)...

i removed mine with lock plyers and a adjustable wrench. if you can turn your exhaust than i guess leave it if its not hitting the car. rom 94170015 will make your car run like silk compared to your stock rom if you're using a 2003 rom http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/94170015 i can make you the rom in 5min and put your immobilizer in it etc if you want.

Interestingly enough my car actually came with a 94170015 ROM.. I bought the car from the original owner that appeared to not have modified anything. When I first started tuning with mellon I wasked him why my rom ID said it was a 2004 and he said many 2003's have 2004 ROM ID's. I did every mod on the car as of now and nothing looked like it was EVER touched before me. The car only had 10k miles on it bought in 2006. The guy barely drove it.

Yes it was flashed under warranty in 2004 for P0300 and again in 2006 for P0300.. So this makes sense. I remember reading that somewhere as well.

Do you have cams? Is the false knock in between 80-160 load?

Yup ive got GSC S2's with the beehive valve springs. And the weird knock issues were between 80-160 load. %20 tps at 2500rpm -3500rpm i want to say.

^ good call.

Adjust the "Idle stability timing control" down to 80 from the stock 160....this will make the knock hit fast and decay fast....easier to pinpoint the exact knock cell location.
