Right I understand that...same thing happened with me...
map switch does not work like on/off for als

I just gave up on the map switch. I dont know the reason, it is on lancer register and geek mapped the reasons why. Perhaps there is a fix I dont know.

SAS isn't switchable...yet. You might want to contact burgers22 in that regard, he was working on switchable sas, he sent me a piece of code to test, V7 but for JDM Evo7.

Ratsbud, did you blank your EGR?

Right,
perhaps this pertains or not...
I had one map with negative timing for als/sas

another map without for just standard driving.
Sas will always be on, just without negative timing will do nothing...

I was not able to switch maps (there would be a 30-45 min delay between map switch)

for some reason map switching has not worked...perhaps you are encountering the same problem

I see...well a switchable SAS might handy for the future anyway!

I never heard about such issue with switchable maps! Why don't use -ve timing on your main map for now?

On overrun with no negative timing, i noticed that pre throttle body there is usually 2-3 psi easily. I need to finish tuning the boost areas of my car, so that I can get things hot and try. I dont think that Im seeing any boost from the SAS yet. Theres something going on with JB/evors's setup. They are opening the valve sooner i think. Im currently just tuning on wastegate pressure which is about 13-14 psi(fp18 wga). I dont plan to raise the boost for autocross at all.. just yet. There is a solo event sunday, which i plan to attend.

There is still a ton of settings left

also on a wot 4th gear pull, sas kicked in with no negative timing afterwards and let an impressive fireball out the back.. such that my entire car was illuminated inside. Im running about 11.7 @ 15 psi so not overly rich but safe.

I dont know what to say here...this all dosnt make much sense.
How could you have boost pre throttle body without negative timing?
You know it is working most easily by sound...."pop pop pop bang bang".

The valve opens when you lift off the throttle...I have never heard of anyone opening the SAS valve when on the throttle...I dont even know how that happens.

Your fireball is not attributed to secondary air...that sounds like just the result of running a little rich....when air is added to negative timing it is not one pop...it is MANY pops and bangs. Well perhaps if your valve is working as it should it could have aided...but just a single pop is not something I have ever encountered with extra air enabled.

It didn't open on throttle, it opened after i lifted but i did nice long fourth gear pull to really heat things. I had a ton of waste gate dump opening on backfires with negative timing.- but on this instance i had none in there.

The turbo pushes air at idle, and if you watch your boost gauges on lift there is def positive pressure. Not a lot but some. I will video once i get my false knock tuned

Maik, did you ever block off your bpv totally?

I saw some boost above 5 psi easily without my bpv hooked up

I feel that no BPV made a substantial difference, I have a 84mm surge port turbo, which may be more forgiving, but I also use NLTS, so im not lifting for upshifts and slipping the clutch on downshifts seems to reduce the surging/flutter noise associated with no valve. Also, seems to give the best effect yet for sas.

post your timing map and fuel map.. Im getting very consistent pops, and some hysterically loud bass bangs.

maik have you tried that logging?

I have a hard time believing that my map switch just stopped working like that. I will have to try the things listed by the evo wiki soon.. maybe to diagnose my issue. TPS is a PITA to switch maps.
