New EVODROID7 EvoScan Android GPS/Logger/Reflashing CarPC Touchscreen Review
This current version works extremely well. The cons I mentioned on my review are minute in comparison to the pros. Yes, there have been 3 different tablets until now. This is normal... It's the same concept of FP making their HTA3582 and then a few weeks or months later they come up with the HTA3586, or them coming up with the Super94 then a few weeks later making the Super99. 99% of companies improve on their products and release newer versions.
I don't see why this should be an issue. I understand your frustration but I think it's about time you calm down and move on...
Hamish has mentioned that he's hoping of programming the software to shutdown and give you the "Evodroid is shutting down, touch the screen to cancel" message when ignition is turned off, but that hasn't happened yet, hopefully he'll be able to program it in the near future.
Tasker as suggested is a good program. Ben_wiggins, I don't know why your OBD2 is sensitive and disconnecting regularly, I've been on bumpy roads and haven't experienced such behavior.
I think this could be an issue that only applies to you, though I could be wrong.

wiggins-I agree with faisalm, maybe check for shorts with your OBD2 port. I run an OBD2 meter and never have connection problems either
Well hopefully Hamish comes thru with that on/off part as that would be good.
As for my port it just feels loose when u connect them. Like there needs to be some tabs that need to be bent down. Rarely happens but went on for a week fiddled with it and it's fine.

By ignition on off I mean when the key is in the off position the tablet shuts off by itself. Not simply that it stops sucking power from the obd2 port. Currently if you have it double din mounted you have to power it off everytime, unless you want it to stay on while your car is parked with a big screen lit screen attracting bad attention.
The ignition on off works fine. Has been delivered with all the pin outs. Was at the start of the year when Hamish released the diagram. And is only used to cut the power to the tablet if left plugged in so it doesn't drain power.
Tasker seems like a good idea. But they disconnect from time to time thru the touchiness of the obd port. I can hit a bump and it will disconnect and reconnect in 5 seconds or so. So won't that cause the tablet to shutdown mid driving.

I only ask all these because you answer so thoroughly, and it seems like you must have a tech background/analyst of some sort because your replies are very informative and fast.

The problem is, people only tend to post horrible reviews of a product, whilst people who have experienced wonders with the same product will tend to lay low and smile, keeping out of the spotlight. I believe it's just human nature.
I think most of us who aren't content with a product or customer service etc.. post up negative reviews when we're irritated or full of rage of some sort, and the only thing we think about is "That son of a ***** **** ****** ***** *** *****! He sells me a half welded downpipe?!?! I'll show him!! I'll let everyone know how he's a liar and a theif etc.. etc...", and eventually the review goes viral.
On the other hand, the happy customer just says to himself, "Well why waste my time and write a review when there's nothing to bad to say about it... Let others buy the product and see how brilliant it is!"
I believe you see my point... That being said, the Evodroid7, particularly the first two versions, have received that same trend of feedback. Some are happy with it, some aren't, and the only ones speaking are the unhappy ones.
So here I am, a happy customer, speaking the truth of my experience of this product. If anyone out there is a data log freak, as I am, I highly suggest this over your laptop. It's light, it's compact, and most importantly, it works.
I'm sure he'll start with the coding of the on/off feature some time in the near future. Have you not been able to get the hang of Tasker yet?

Most GPS apps have a "shutting down in 10seconds..." 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4,. if power is applied again in that time the countdown can be disabled, or the user can click Cancel. I will add this feature to EvoScan.
Until yesterday when I got the updated apk file and now nothing displays only get throttle postion.
Thanks Hamish!
I'll check it out now. Just to be sure, the current devices only accept 758 x 480 and 480 x 758, correct? I've tried different sizes, but when incorporated with Evoscan on the device, the needles / gauges will relocate, sometimes off-screen.
Another thing, the "change template" doesn't work. Evoscan will only recognize a template if it's named "758x480_Carbon1.txt" or "480x758_Carbon1.txt".

yes i realise that, but when i go into the data items it wont let me select the items i want to log again, you press the tick box and it just unselects straight away.
oh damn, yes I know the reason for this. sorry about that. I will make a fix for that. I'll email you an updated version.
Thanks Hamish!

however good news is that the 758x480 and 480x758 part of the filename .txt and .png is actually determined dynamically by the android screen resolution of the device you are running it on.
