You'd still need a button access to the cdrom may as well have it coming out of the droid.

This might be a solution to the button challenge:

For a double din installation, I have found a way to programmatically press the power button on and off from the screen. best you have the ACC wire from the stereo connected to the power pin on the 1.3DA/3.0DA cable green connector.

one problem, after being in standby for too long the device will switch off. and then you can't press the screen to turn it back on. nor will the ignition key toggle turn it back on. I'll have a think of a way to get around this, so you don't need to re-wire your power button.

Johnny, thats no good, that speaker jack plug button will only work when the device is turned on.

The idea is to replace the script for the battery icon (which will appear of course as soon as the device is plugged in) with a custom script that will boot the EvoDroid7. To make this work locate /system/bin/playlpm. Rename the old playlpm to playlpm.bak and replace it with the following script:

#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/reboot
Another tablet install - with no power button trick!

Actually I was thinking of making it manually accessible to refrain from wiring any more wires and all that. So basically it's just a pull and push to slide the tablet in and out

Trick seems to use an app to power off but how do you power it back on? That is something that needs to be done on the programming side. Or will the droid power on when it senses ACC power currently?

Does anyone else is having problems with numeric gauges and negative values with decimal places?
The minus sign is appearing in both main value and decimal value:

I may have missed the answer to this but is the quick release screw plug is an ODBII pass through?

I would like to also be able to plug in a permanent ODB Scan tool to clear the occasional CEL light I get from my test pipe.

Might be something you can do with the bootloader. On the Nexus 7, all you need to do is change one bootloader setting and the tablet will automatically power on when power is applied (instead of just going into charge mode)

thanks, yeah I had already looked at that, thats only for auto booting Nexus, I tried it.. EvoDroid7 is a Mediatek Dual Core.

I found that if I turn off my wifi, and turn off my gps on the tablet.. with the new EvoScan version it now goes into standby automatically when I turn the key off, and comes on automatically when I turn the key on. so as long as the battery in the EvoDroid7 does not go flat, it turns on and off with the key.. its pretty sweet.

nope. the green quick release screw plug is for 3x 0-5v Sensor Analogue inputs, and 1x Wideband Serial input, and ACC ignition key on/off input.
