As Chris said yes I was a beta tester and no it wasn't. Mine had no clipping what so ever on it. Mine looked like the ones on Map's website.

Hmm comparing the little bit I can see of the flapper in my pic vs the map pic it looks like mine is shifted to the right?

After I adjusted my preload my turbo came on a lot quicker (EF3). On my 2.0L LR it is hitting about 21-22psi right at 4000rpm

^ i reckon your flapper isn't sealing properly Troy.
It's a PITA but you're gonna need to rip that sucker out to check it, or at least get the dump off
surely freeboosting on a 2.4 will go 40+?

yeah i know it's a different car, but mine needed hardly any WGDC to go 30psi. I'd hate to think what would have happened freeboosting it

checked my flapper and it's fine, think it's time to go ef3
vdr of my bbk vs ef4, seems like my ef4 spools way late for a 2.4 but when I compare the torque and hp it's actually making more than others here i've compared with, it makes 300tq at 4k and compared to svendiesels map which is at double the boost at that rpm it's making same torque, and I don't even have mivec, so it seems theres nothing wrong with my ef4, just the way it is, besides the fact it won't boost over 33psi with 100%wgdc

The turbo should have more in it then that. Just looking at the boost curve it appears its not even falling off up top, Which is uncommon on a 2.4. You mentioned your flapper looked like it had moved? any binding? How high did you boost leak test the car?

It's hitting 25psi about 800rpms later than this example which was also a 2.4L Evo 8, combine that with your boost "threshold" and something is definitely awry. I'll be responding to your PM shortly sir.

The flapper seems to be fine I pulled hot side off to check. Was that example in third or fourth Chris? I have boost tested to 25 psi. It doesn't have leaks because my load to boost ratio is fine

I always try to check at 30 psi myself when I do boost leak tests. Another thing is too how long does it take for the pressure to leave the system? If it holds up and takes a while then your fine. But if it just drops rapidly then there is a good chance there is a leak still. And I agree with Chris, looking at my unclipped turbo I get 25 psi at about 4400 rpms, 33 by 4700.

I will try test higher but usually if there's a leak you can spot it in the engine loads not matching boost. A leak at over 25psi shouldn't be affectin the spool under 25psi though. If it was leaking that bad also the boost/ power would drop as the turbo overruns itself. Nevertheless I will check

Actually it will. Being your in vacume most of the time once you start building boost and hit 0 your still creating boost. Even though your atmospheric you still build boost. So if I am correct if your at say -10 psi in vac your actually at 35 psi by the time you hit 25 psi on the guage. Someone correct me if I am incorrect.
