MAP EF-series Turbochargers results thread
Hey, my friend. As far as I know, quite a few of my evo buddies have just ordered the EF turbos from MAP too, including myself, getting an EF2 - ported and coated
I also picked up a set of S2 cams and MAP beehive springs from them too!!
My ordering process has been real smooth and great, as usual, MAP provides an exceptional customer service. I believe it should be ready for pick up in a week or so, and then I will be posting some pics and comment!!

Now I think I have a cracked wastegate flap or something along those lines. My ef4 is way too laggy on my 2.4 and today tried with no hose attached to the wastegate line, max
It hit was 31psi. I'm pretty sure freeboosting it should be way above that?

I had something similar with mine. It was preload on the turbo. Did you get your new wg put on the car? If so make sure you have proper preload. Take the line from your boost guage and put it on the wga and find out where the thing is opening. That will let you know what is going on. Either that or you have a nasty *** boost leak.

Yes the new gate is preloaded, no I don't have a boost leak nor any exhaust leaks or a clogged cat nor a dodgy tune. IMO only thing left in the turbo itself or the wastegate flapper
How much preload? I ask this because I did have a similar situation with mine and sure as **** not enough preload. I have on my car right now about a quarter eye lid of preload which is about 25 psi. This is all the boost I am running at the moment being it is only the wg pressure. I don't mean to beat the preload to death but i wasn't sure until I found where the wg was completely closed and worked my way backwards from there. My graphs were UGLY needless to say, but sure enough as soon as I found where it was completely closed I backed it off to where it is now and made a world of difference.
anywhere from 1/2 hole to a full hole, over 3 different actuators. it's running more preload than i've ever had to run on any other turbo. i can probably etch a tiny bit more preload in there but at that point the wastegate would have almost 0 movement available to it. wierd thing is going from 1/2 hole to full hole of preload isn't affect the spoolup at all. I know where you're coming from, first thing that came to my mind was preload or dodgy actuator too.

I believe Brian was one of our Beta testers, the turbine wheel clipping was implemented after that when in house testing revealed subtle improvements in both spool and power output, I assure you that is not the issue at hand here. Do you have any pictures of the wastegate flapper, is it seating properly?
