thanks for ALL the opinions guys, there seems to be great arguments for both turbos mated up with a stock block but I just dont know lol. I am leaning toward the ef3 just because I can run it with a stock exhaust setup and not have to worry about taming the motor so much that I dont see its full potential PLUS I feel like I'm going to be pressured to build my motor if I buy my ef4 because I feel like I would want to see the full potential of the turbo but not want to blow up my block. Also, I would always have to be un-easy about ripping it with the ef4 on the stock block all the time lol.

if you want that 500whp/400tq and thats your goal period.? then go with the ef3 you will not be disappointed trust me, the ef4 is for a fully built motor, head, etc and for a guy who wants 600+ hp

look at my setup:
stock motor, head
plenty of power adders
i made 425/360 with 11 degrees of timing on 26psi. that turbo is hardly working at that, now imagine if you had a built motor you'd have the motor supplying it as well i bet the ef3 with a built motor could do 600/525tq no problem

EF3 is the Best option for a stock block if you arent exclusively a drag racer, even then on the stock block its not far off. Curse DSM was at 544 EF4 i was at 527 EF3. If i had to do it again on the stock block i would stay EF3, its a better all around turbo and still is ''laggy enough'' to make tremendous power on the stock block while being very responsive.

Would you stand by this statement if you had a 2.4LR...?

Awesome as I love how they look. So your EF3 looks exactly like the EF4 both on the cold side and hot side? I am thinking about opting for the EF3 instead of my current EF4 in order to have a greater powerband. Just thinking about it...

Why is there so much gap between the compressor wheel and the compressor housing?

I have a 2.4 installed right now, im on the fence about which way to go. The EF3 should have plenty for most everything along with wicked street response, but my car is setup for high speed time attack and HPDE which favors the EF4, I just need to decide if the tradeoff is worth it.

I wonder where the EF3 would start to taper off with the 2.4LR.

Just get the damn thing on the car before you start making changes. I mean its understandable you cant just do that being your a million miles away .

It drives me nuts on how much your keep changeing things. Get home get the car done and be happy with it

Just got my Map Stroker with Map EF4 back in the car this weekend and it's up and running. Unfortunately I can't drive it because the tie rod ends I ordered were the wrong ones, they don't fit. So I ordered new ones only this time from STM instead of Advance Auto. I should start my tuning around the 15th roughly and I'm having TSCompUSA tune mine remotely. I'll have Virtual Dyno numbers hopefully before the end of the month.

Also, May 17-20th is German Race Wars. So I should have some track times next month with my Map Stroker/EF4 setup.
