It also puts a lot of carbon in the throttle body and can cause sticking issues.

If I tuned the car in the past it should be good to go, no changes needed.

Yes, mine was the one not too long ago had a pulley seize up during a pull and broke the timing belt = broken valves, smashed up head, snapped spark plugs and FP Black ate valves.. was a good time, but you guys hooked me up with a complete long block .

Did EGR removal after reading this.

I disabled EGR a few years ago thanks to mrfred/tephra rom modifications, but to my surprise, two of EGR vacuum hoses were already disconnected.

After removal/block/capping vacuum ports, gained ~0.4 AFR, so had to touch the map to compensate the AFR change.

Highly recommended mod for older EVOs (purchased June 03), and thanks for the bringing this up, JohnBradley.

Really exact age of the car seems less important than overall mileage. Any Evo with more than 75k should consider this to either fix weird issues, possible idle problems, and at the very least prevent possible issues from arising when the EGR does start to bypass more.

My EVO has only 45k miles, but I guess rubber vacuum hoses are affected by the age also. Anyway, highly recommended mod!

Thanks!

i just did the EGR delete (capped hoses and made block off plate) and now when i put it in neutral and roll up to a stop my car idle freaks out and will idle up and down a few times before the car cuts off.

My friend , it's not that simple your tuner needs to tweak your ecu to make it work properly.
