Why you need to do an EGR delete
Its not new, but I think this is the first time the power loss has been documented.
It should be noted that this power loss would not occur with a properly functioning EGR system.

no you dont need a "tune" when removing EGR unless your on Speed density (My opinion) your maf will compensate for the difference in air flow. But you will need to a tune to remove all the CELs associated with the EGR removal. The purpose of the EGR is to recirculate Exhaust Gas back into the intake to reduce the formation of Nitrogen Oxides (For the Enviroment, Emissions etc.) The negative side of this is of course all that soot going back into your intake causing it to get VERY hot and there for lowering Air Density effecting power. Also in high boost scenarios that rubber line can pop off and cause a vacum leak. Removing all that crap helps keep temps down in the intake and also removes chances of a random vacum leak.

No, it is spooling faster with the EGR delete. BLue is Deleted.
these results will certainly sell some block off plates. lol
I have seen dyno results show just the opposite on dsm forums. this is an emissions device that recirculates exhaust gases back through the intake. "why would you do that?" for a more complete burn! cleaner emissions. results will vary on how rich or lean the tune is on the car.
