I will look into it soon. I'm still on the hunt for a usable electric ps setup so that takes priority at the moment. Not to mention I'm working on that bastard 8 turbo

As for the trip, if you can take off work it can be done...

edit- looking at the pictures closer, i dont think bushings could be installed bc of the design.

I am embarrassed to show the under side of my car 130k in michigan salt is not pleasing to the eye. Yes BJ its where those red spots are in the picture.

The aluminum exhaust was made by a local, was going to do my own ( still might do it later in 3.5 inch ) but the deal is too good to pass.

The Magnus rear subframe claim of -40 pounds includes removing the sway bar, moustache bar, and diff side mounts It replaces both aluminum subframes.

Just off the top of my head:
~11 pounds for the sway bar
~16 pounds for the moustach bar
~8 pounds for the side mounts

Pulling the swaybar and using the moustache bar eliminator and aluminum side mounts will get you about 30 of those pounds. The Magnus subframe saves you about 10 pounds overall.

As for electric power steering, the Toyota MR-S steering pump is the way to go. Most of the newer stuff is CAN-BUS and goes into a low pressure limp mode without the CAN-BUS data. I probably wouldn't waste your time with Ebay or looking used. The electric car guys and hotrod guys all know about this pump and they usually go for $350+ used and $450+ rebuilt.

You can buy brand new from Toyota for like $550 if you have a minor hook up with dealer parts. You can get the mating connectors from Toyota too.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize it deleted the rear sway bar...not good for me.
As for the power steering, that is what I had in mind. I have come across numerous links for pumps and pigtails. It's not cheap, probably $1000 to swap over to electric power steering but I think it is worth it.

Ok here is a question for you guys. Im looking at swapping the front brembos to the eclipse gt front brakes to be able to fit a 15" wheel and also shave a good bit of weight from the brakes themselves. Now the car is street driven, but only drag raced... my question is would one be able to scallop the eclipse rotors to shave more weight? Not concerned about the loss of braking power as i will be using hawk hp pads with them or something similar.

Right now I can return the car to stock easily if necessary.

D2 coilovers 31 lbs less, weigh 34 lbs, (stock was 65 lbs)
15" Drag wheel/tire 54 lbs less, 33 lbs each or 132 total, (stock was 46.5lbs each or 186 total)
mini battery 27 lbs less
front crash beam 13 lbs
under tie bars (2) with bolts, 2.5 pounds
Spare Tire, Jack, and Tool 37lbs
Front strut tower brace 8 lbs
Oil cooler w/oil 7 lbs
wing 7 lbs
downpipe back exhaust 22 lbs
AC compressor, condenser, core and brackets 23 lbs
front speakers and head unit 7 lbs
rear speakers 8 lbs
rear crash beam 18 lbs
rear wiper 3 lbs
trunk plasic 7 lbs
Evap systme 9 lbs
washer boltle 6 lbs with half full fluid or 3 lbs without fluid
Floor mats 5 lbs
Front passenger seat 37 lbs
Rear seat bottom 9 lbs
Rear seat top 14 lbs
Carpet 17 lbs
Firewall sound padding 7 lbs
Seat belts 13 lbs
HVAC 17 lbs
The rest of the firewall sound deadening 7lbs
passenger air bag 9 lbs
AC fan 6 lbs
Dash metal 8 lbs
Front wiper assembly and motor 10 lbs
Bucket of left over bolts and screws 5 lbs
firewall padding 3 lbs

Oem clutch flywheel vs tilton twin carbon?
Small front brakes ? lbs
undertray ? lbs

stock weight ~ 3250 for my 05 EVO 8 GSR with sunroof. weight reduction so far 457 lbs so right around 2800lbs I'd guess.

To do list:
Interior Sound Deadening with dry ice? concerned it might leave an ugly mess
evap line fron under the hood to trunk area?
carbon fiber roof ? (loses 40bls on evos with sunroof)
carbon fiber trunk ?
Buschur light weight bits ?
Aluminum or carbon fiber driveshaft ?
Door crash beams 10lbs each (looks difficult and might need to wait for a roll cage for safety)
scaled mine the other day with the 18" wheels and full size battery with the front stock seats in it. The rest should be accurate. it came out to 2940lbs.

haha yeah she's no light weight but better than stock. Took it to the track the other day. Virtual dyno was showing 680awhp/600tq on the street at 42psi but after I added some timing it started spinning through 3rd so I don't really know the power. I'm guessing over 700awhp. I only got two messy passes in

nah, add 185 for me.

2940
+ 185 for me
- ~40 for front pass seat
- ~50 for 15's wheels/tires
- ~30 for the mini battery

so ~ 3000lbs race weight

The eclipse brakes are just as heavy or heavier than the OE Brembos. Different materials, the 3G uses cast iron. They will fit the "right" 15" wheel tho!

yep, you dont want cast iron calipers. one of the lightest and cheapest calipers you can use are the ones from the C4 or C5 corvette. I think the pre 1988 were single piston and the newer years were dual pistons. they perform well also since BEAR brakes used them for brake upgrade kits.
