Then started messing with the rear deck/parcel shelf/whatever you care to call the area above the back seats. Removed the hooks for the child seats and the seat belt mechanisms (removed the lower clip ins awhile ago so the upper parts have just been tucked behind my seats). Made some carbon pieces to fill the holes left. Also removed the padding and rubber pad underneath. Rubber pad weighed over two pounds if I remember correctly.

Very nice! I like your ideas sir! I also removed the baby seat anchors & rear ashtray a little while ago. In place of the baby seat anchors I put these small rubber body plugs from an integra, fit perfect in the hole & weight nothing. I bought a small sheet of 1mm carbon fiber that I will use where the ashtray went like you did. I will be looking around my car for other random things to delete & make cf panels/pieces for. How did you attached the carbon fiber plate to the back of the center console, super glue? Also, that rubber pad was under the rear deck? Looks like I'll be pulling my rear deck off soon, haha...

Thanks! I'm fortunate to have scrap carbon and what not around work (I'm a crew member for a top fuel dragster) so when I have time I like to find little things to do with it. I plan on looking for more to do soon, let me know what you come up with!

Yes, I just used super glue for the ashtray piece. I was going to rivet it, but it only weighs a few grams so I think the super glue should be fine. I would definitely take the deck apart. Just remove the 3 screws from inside the trunk under each speaker and the two nuts holding the brake light down. Otherwise it just pops out. There is some foam padding, that rubber pad, and seat belts if you intend on deleting them. Took out about 8 pounds just from that area.

Cool, sounds good. I did the rear wiper delete last year & I think I have the same plug as you too. My car is loud so it probably doesn't matter, but you have driven your car after removing the rubber padding under the rear deck? I just don't want to remove it & then end up with some annoying rattle/noise. But like you said, it's only 3 screws so it's not hard to put back in...

Edit...

I was just checking out your for sale thread & I see you have a carbon fiber trunk on your car. I like that is has no key hole & only weighs 7 lbs. Who makes it & how is fitment?

I'm not very sensitive to noise, but I haven't noticed any difference. My trunk is gutted too with no real increase in noise or anything.

Not sure what the trunk is actually. Bought it used as a seibon, but quickly figured out that it is not. I need to delete my sale thread haha.

Ok I was a little bored today haha.

OEM front 5 speed transmission mount - 1 lb 10.7 oz

Modified front 5 speed transmission mount - 1 lb 2.2 oz

Total weight saved = 8.5 oz

I even threw a coat of wrinkle coat paint on it to pretty it up a little. Came out very nice and is still VERY strong. I have Torque Solution side mounts, Buschur lightweight cross member/mount, and a Buschur rear mount so my motor doesn't move.

Rear Door Crash Braces/Beams... TrinaBabe states that by removing the crash beams in the inside of the two rear doors in her Evo 8 resulted in a reduction of 25 pounds. However JB suggests that the Evo 9 has aluminum door braces/beams... he asks it as a question... not necessarily a statement.

So my question is... do Evo 9's have a steel crash brace/beam in the rear doors? Is it any different than the 8's? I figure before I tear apart my door card, gut the components, and make it to the steel bits...it would be easier to ask first.

Thanks in advance.
They are aluminum in the 9. At least the 9RS that is in my garage. . .

The bars I cut out were cast or forged I-beam aluminum. . .

There also was a second, tubular steel bar in both the front and rear doors I believe. If there was, it was pretty light.

thats a 1.0 lb drop from a stock wheel bearing. i will be doing a before and after review on these so once the car gets a few miles on them ''for brake in'' ill be able to do the ''after'' portion of my review. look for a thread about these coming soon.

also i got my dash put back in. finally i completed my ECU bracket. i been pretty busy so not much time is being spent on the car. although the plan is to have it running by the 1st.
any thoughts or updates on the wheel bearings ? my dad was telling me they have used thease in motorcycles in the early 90's i thought it was like some secret new tech
