rms is 1000 watts and the max is 3000 watts. Right now i have it wired to a 1600 watts amp and its takes it fine. i think it coould take up to 2000 its a great sub a little pricey but youll never need another one.

if you dont plan on putting in a rear strut bar, why not have them firing into the cabin? only other option would be in the tire well.
yes the rms on alpine type x 10 is 1000, I have the pdx 1.1000 which is actually rated at 1600. I do agree that it will handle much more...as far as the price, it depends on where you go. I usually get my stuff from a wholeshare dealer here in FL, but I got a deal on the amp and speaker combo for 694.

As for mounting our box, you can drill a 3/8" hole through the floor and bolt it in from up under the car and seal it well and i guarantee you that thing's not going anywhere.

I'm very interested in this box. However I would like one for the passenger side as well. Is there plans to build a passenger side unit to match?

This is a bit too small for the 12s I would use (they need 1.25cuft), so I am looking to use 10s, and fill in the back wall or base with resin to lower the volume. What other "filler" do you suggest that's not so heavy? I need to bring the internal volume down from 1 cuft down to .63 ftcu.

JL Audio 10W3V2 300W RMS, .625 ft cu ideal sealed enclosure volume. .05 Driver displacement... so recalculate my numbers (I misplaced a decimal space), I need .675 ft cu

Hmm, now that I am thinking... I may be able to add a 2" port to this box and tune it to 33.4 HZ for a nice sounding system with a clean look...

However to even consider this box, I would need a matching Passenger side.

So, any plans for a passenger side? Otherwise I may just have to glass my own.

So far the best Idea I have really come up with is a gravity latch (for a gated fence) that could latch onto a U ring welded into the floor. It seemed like the perfect solution until I got the box. It looks like the only way for it to really come out is to slide from the drivers side to the passengers side, or to swing from the front (of the vehicle) corner.

Anybody have any other good ideas?

I took a large "L" brackett (sp) and removed the cover on the side trunk. this allowed me to secure it to the metal support and stuck out enough to secure w/ a wing nut in box, no holes in trunk=no leaks

There are no plans to make a passenger side at this time. Mostly due to the symmetry of the trunk (or lack of) so the boxes would not match. Plus we've found from making about 40 different "Magic Boxes" that when you build a passenger side, the customer wants a driver's side, and build a driver's side customers want a passenger side. You build both and the customer wants them to fit 15" woofers. So the easiest way to make the most people happy was to take the larger side and recess it at much as possible.

I'll tell you guys this much though... If we can get at least 5 people to commit to buying a passenger side if we build it (sorta like a pre-order thing), then we'll get another Evo in here and make it.

another question haha. i gave up on my 2 12s. sat in a guys car who had 2 12s and it was way too much. so im looking for 1 12. id do it this summer and would probably be buying this custom box. does it have enough arispace for an alpine type-R?

also can you pass autox tech with this box if its bolted down along with the amp bolted to the back of the seat?
