So I'm cutting the faceplate, wow, what a pain the butt. I've probably spent about 4 hours working on this thing alone, and about 90-95% complete. Doing the final fitment now.

So it seems like everyone mounts the faceplate a bit away from the HVAC. I mean, the HVAC pushbuttons (AC/defrost/recirculate) are flush with the faceplate instead of sticking out a bit like they do stock.

I think maybe as an extra step, I'm going to cut out the sides of the cubby so that you can mount the faceplate a little bit closer to the control box (basically carve out where the circular ovals go) and so that it sits flush instead of sticking out 0.5mm.

Finally got a pic of the finished product. Used OSH Rustoleum satin black paint. Looks almost factory, IMO, came out better than I expected, although it also took way longer than I expected. Definitely do additional cuts into the cubby to cut out the ovals for the dials so you can get the dials as close to the HVAC as possible.

The key to the whole project is patience, and a 1/3 sheet sander.

For people who don't wanna cut out their existing A/C controls, at japan parts they sell the JDM version which is plug and play thats design for the single din fitment.

This is just an option,

Thanks for the correction.

Does everyone know where to get this A/C control set-up? I notice in Europe they come with it as a option.

It looks like me like that's a Japanese car (right-side driver), in which case once again that HVAC unit won't work in American cars. American cars are all mechanical cable driven, Japanese is digital/electronic. Sorry dude, there's just no way getting around either making your own or buying an Orbital kit.

the reason why i made this mod because just like everyone here i did all the research and look into all the possible solution to get that hvac relocated the easiest way and as stock as possible and the jdm/eudm version is not the way to go. So think about it guys if the jdm/eudm works i'll be one of the person to do it and there will be a write up for it already. So once again jdm/eudm will not work on our usdm hvac version. there is no write up on it what so ever. i could dig more on to this mod and maybe make a new version using some parts that i think will work but i'm not going do it because my solution works and i'm completely satisfied with it.

Thanks guys for clearing up that option. I was able to find a article on the Orbital kit but now it seems they're no longer in service.

Does anyone know where I could buy just the A/C module?

I would be very interested in the lower cubby kit as I want to relocate 3 my 60mm defis to hvac area of the upper dim panel. Lower area of upper dim becasue I gots a 7inch in dash that would be too low if in the lower dim slot and would be blocking the gauges if the in dash was to be put into the hvac slot,...so, gauges must go where hvac was.

Anyone seen a triple 60mm gauge swapped into the hvac area? please post link if so.

Ya they barely reached, but the problem I am having right now is that whenever I turn the temp around, it would never reach fully anymore, it will never get hot or cold, i can feel it is loose inside, any idea of how to fix it ?

I'm in the initial steps of gathering funds to make it into to production to be more affordable to the end user.

I own all the plans and certificates and I'm determined to make this kit available and to be much less than what the Orbital kit was selling them for.

I would appreciate if there is any interest for this DD kit for you to just PM me and SAY, " Yes to DD kit for Lancer 02-07"

That would be greatly appreciated and help me have this DD kit available in the very near future.

Check link below and read all about the quality of the DD kit... This post was on evolutionm.net a couple years back

we've heard this numerous times guy, come talk to you when you have a couple dozen or so made...

I'm interested for sure, I assume there wil be many others that would welcome a quality finished product. Would be interested in an option for the lower/upper as seperate pieces an a combination if possible.

I'm not interested in using the double upper piece to house a video screen as I am to use it for a tri 60mm gauge on the lower portion of the upper piece and a 7 inch flip out for the upper portion of that same piece.

I am pretty sure that the original kit was only for evo's?? Either way, I have an evo and hope the potential kit will work for the evo (not sure if the evo and lancer are the same interior and if this is your ultimate goal?

What is the ETA of availability for a available unit and proposed pricing?
