You can, but it probably won't look pretty. For mine, I just bought some screws and spacers at the local hardware store. (I got the bezel for the lower section from someone that had it on a Lancer.)

I followed these great instructions to do my install and spent hours trimming the pieces to fit just right. Now I'm selling my kit since I sold my Evo: Double Din Radio Install Kit

It's not that easy. I just did this upgrade and was so proud of the panel before mounting. I had planned on using spacers instead of tension fitting with the face plate, but I couldn't get the right fit. For greater fudge factor I would recommend over drilling the bottom factory holes to accomodate allthread and nyloc nut combinations. Allthread can be cut to length and nyloc nuts hold at any position on the allthread. Also allthread of that size (1/8" to 3/16") can be easily bent to allow you to even use the bottom of the climate contol holes change the pitch of unit for better fit.

Reread most of post and it is way easier to disconnect the hvac cables from underneath driver side dash than from the top of the hvac controls still hooked to it. Needle nose pliers and tweaker screwdriver for the cable ends. Spread clamps and pull out cable from anchor points. Took 2 minutes.

If you don't use temp and vents control often, this could be a solution:

The blower motor switch was placed in the car lighter hole, and the rest of the controls were left inside the dash, behind the radio.

I'm definitely trying this but instead of a double din I want to mount 6 gauges and relocate my radio to the trunk, i could just use blue tooth from my iphone. I need to construct a 6 gauge panel. Has anyone though of this or attempted this?

No need to go all the way to the trunk. Mount the radio under the drivers seat. The pic above your post shows an lcd which was connected to a single din dvd player mounted under the passenger's seat. Modify the radio trim, or get the japanparts 2 din, and you'll get your space.

Doubble Din

So i have done a lot of reading and still no luck in finding an answer.
Is there a double din conversion kit for the 03 lancer you can buy for the climate control?

If you can't find an answer, then you haven't read enough. There are plenty of threads on evom alone regarding 2 din conversions and hvac relocations. Maybe you need to change your search keywords...
