There's no such thing as a "GT3542R"... the only GT35R available has an 82mm compressor wheel, making it a, in Garrett-speak, GT3582R. Is that what you're thinking of?

 

If you have a choice between the 3 and the 3.5 inch exhaust, take the 3.5

It is not totally necessary, since on the 2 liter you will use the .63 exhaust housing. 3 inch will be more than enough to free up back pressure and flow well. On a 2.4 liter EVO, where you are using a .82 exhaust housing, the 3.5 inch exhaust makes more sense, although the 3 inch would work fine too.

 

I had the RNR 35r kit and it did not spool till 4k w/full boost by4.8k.Not fun for the street.Im now looking at the 3037 for a better compramise.

 

In what gear? Nailing it at what RPM? Who tuned it?

Sounds like a lot of guys are stuck on how much psi they can get how quickly. 50 trim should work very well for you then. It is a great turbo that has proved itself over the years, especially on pump gas.

 

Tuned by Shiv car was dead until 4k in any gear,then it came alive after that.

 

That's interesting. In third gear I make 22psi by 4300 - 4400 on my 35R. I understand that it is later than what a 50 trim or smaller compressor will make, but the car is by no means dead before that. I'd be interested in seeing old data logs if you have them and want to share. It should not be "dead" at all. Like I've been saying, if done right, you'll make loads of power on ramp up.

 

What constitutes 'done right'?

 

I have the AMS 3076 package w/ 272/272 cam, you don't get full boost (20lbs) till 4200-4300 rpm.

 

i think with 2.3 stroker the gt35 will spool up like stock turbo with 2liters

I don`t know how much HP will i have on 93octane. What can you say?I hope for 500hp at least.On race fuel about 700hp?

what do you think about my 1/4mile and spool up?

 

I have the AMS kit and it's true that it doesn't spool until just above 4k, but it accelerates like any other car before that. Once it spools it's pretty fun though. It's perfectly driveable. Obviously you don't want to go WOT in the rain or something stupid like that, but it drives just fine and you can modulate the boost if you don't want all of the power. As long as you keep 4k + your good to go, so it only effects first gear really. It's a badass top end turbo. Ran against an evo with just an exhaust and he stayed even with me until third gear then it was about as fast as a mach1 on nitrous. It pulled away from a new z28 with mods. I haven't even tuned it well either. Oh I have stock engine totally not even cams. I doubt the 30r can make 450whp on pump fuel. I would be very surprised. I would say the 35r is good for another 30-40whp on pump fuel when compared to the 30r.

 

There are tuning tricks to make a car spool faster and make more power down low.
