I used the Puralotor PureOne, and didnt like it. It looked like the suction got to it. It was totally dented up on one side, so I can only assume it was only filtering on the other. Im sure the Evo runs the oil harder than any other car Ive had, so Im assuming that did it in. Ill be trying the #1010 K&N. Ill post what I think.

that doesnt sound right. The oil system is under pressure, not vacuum. I think maybe your filter got banged by something.

Agreed, it's under alot of pressure and pretty damn low to the ground, at least mine is but mine is lowered like 2.5 inches in the front....I believe the amsoil filter (updated version I believe) is made wider instead of taller for this reason, since it's so close to the ground but not sure.

Napa 7092/Wix 57092, best filter choice out there. It's what I use on my 790whp Evo

OEM filters used by Mitsu are the MZ690116 and MZ690072. The Evolution calls for the latter of the two, it is the "skinnier" filter, and by VIN that is what is needed. The MZ690116 is not the correct filter. Both will fit on the car since the threads are all the same, but the fatter one is not the correct one ACCORDING TO THE DEALER.

bringing this thread back. ^ the comment above is funny cause my mitsu dealer always gives the bigger one. They even gave me the skinny one once and I asked them if it was the right one and they said no and swapped it out for the bigger one. So it's tough to know who is even correct on this subject cause it seems alot of information from almost everyone is inaccurate. Who knows.

I had always used k&n oil filter HP1010. Eric @ Strictly modified told me I should be using the big oem one so I switched to that one a year ago and it works fine too. The smaller oem one is actually still bigger then the k&n one so I am sure either oem one would be fine.
