i have this loud clicking coming from the engine bay. i guess it has been there for a while and it you cant hear from the cabin. it seems to be rpm dependent and it is there all the time if you lift the hood and use the TB to raise the rpm. it is not the common lifter problem (which i have as well) but something else, and it sounds as if it is coming from the intake manifold region.

any ideas?

yep.. Its probably the injectors.. at least thats the only clicking I hear except for a minor exhaust leak I developed at my downpipe in the past 2 weeks.

 

damn...the injectors are that loud...i thought that was were i was hearing it from...was the fuel rail

yeah any noise from the intake mani area would be the injectors.

 

so is the noise ok then? or should i bring it in to the dealer and get some new ones....i have about 800 miles till me warranty is up....i gotta save up for some 660's anyways but for now will the stockers be ok?

 

my injectors are noisy too, nothing to worry about

 

Just curious but how do you know if it's a minor exhaust leak at the downpipe? JUst like to know so I can check mines also.

Sounds like the injectors if it is clicking.
But if you say it is loud "licking", maybe you need to quit licking so loud. j/k....

 

i am having the same exact problem. Its a pretty loud noise, you can hear it pretty good even when just standing infront of the car. Once the car comes out of idle the sound goes away.. or it gets masked by the other noises. Like his it is coming from the intake manifold side as well.. so i guess if its injectors its normal then. No one happens to have a sound clip of this do they? I have a clip of mine but i dont know how to post it up.
