Does anyone know if there is a "break in period" when you upgrade the turbo?

 

I would say yes. Atleast 500miles.

 

but doesnt it get the hell beat out of it immediately when they put it on and then dyno tune it right after?

 

Things that spin in the engine should have a small break in period...i'd say atleast 350 miles. this would go for things like cams, too.

 

No you would break it in then take it to the dyno =)

when you start your car up watch the turbo it just spins like a bat out of hell
id say break it in like i rbeak in my motor hard idle em for 20 minuts and then beat the living fk out of it

 

I don't believe you need to break in turbos.

 

maybe let the car idle for about 2 minutes to ensure you have good oil flow then boost away.

 

YES they do... Ask me... 500 miles is fine. You need to let the shaft cool down and warm up. I gave my turbo 500 miles and look at now (like a rock)

 

No break in is needed. It did fine when it got balanced. Prime the oil feed line before start up and you'll be fine.

 

so who here has "not" broken in their turbo and had a problem because of it??? turbos do not need to be broken in, i've put brand new turbos on and ran 20 psi a bunch of times and never had a problem. as soon as the car idles while you check for leaks its good to go

 

I Never heard of a turbo break in period. Ive just heard idle for 5 mins and your ready to go.
