Everyone is experiencing after thier break in period a lack of power higher up the revs.....for those of you that have broken your cars in...try disconnecting your battery for about 30 minutes...in england this used to work on subaru 4 cam turbos it made a huge difference...if you are running decent gas now and not driving like miss daisy because of the break in period ...you need the ecu to find a different map...I have heard this can only be accomplished by disconnecting the battery...this may not work now because of newer technology...but hey it's worth a try...after re-connecting the battery take the car for a fast drive and see what happens

 

I'm fairly certain that disconnecting the battery and letting the car sit for 20 or so minutes should be long enough to cause the ECU to "reset" I do know there is a function within the OBD-II Diagnostics that will force it to re-learn also.. But I don't have my car yet to try it. I have done it with my Fuel Injected Neon.. But it is just a girly neon..

ok everybody...look; theres been 2 threads on this, and on one of them, they said to D/C the NEG. terminal ONLY!!......on the other one, it says to D/C the POS. terminal....which do i D/C? Plus, if i D/C the POS. terminal......how? What do i take off? can some1 PLEASE take a few pics of what exactly to take off cuz i dont kno WHAT the hell i'm doing....any help is appreciateD!!

 

Disconnecting is disconnecting; it doesn't matter if you do the positive or the negative. It's just that you can get zapped if you use the positive terminal.

Forget the positive terminal then, and just stick with the negative terminal. There's one bolt to loosen. Pretty ****ing clear, huh?

Disconnect them both, it don't freaking matter...

 

Always disconnect the negative cable first and hook it up last. It is less likely to spark. If it sparks and there are fumes from the battery there the battery could explode. Exploded batteries are not pretty. I've seen them dent hoods quite badly. You don't want that.

 

Now that we've put our collective head together and figured out that disconnecting = disconnecting.. .. someone tell us if this makes any difference whatsoever after a little bit of driving.
