Eh, not on pump gas it won't. Not without doing all kinds of crap like headwork and having a freak for a car.

Maybe someone will prove otherwise, but i don't think it will happen. If it does, im sold!

I want it all, in one turbo(the stocker does't quite get the job done on the hwy or the strip). Maybe the 3071 is for me, but i haven't seen enough from it at the strip on high octane to pull me that way.

You dyno your on race fuel? 330 is nice on pump, but id rather see 350-360(DD numbers of course)

although im running alky, i want a 400whp capable pump gas turbo(dynojet). But, from what you say, the 3071 might can be there.... im also on stock intercooler and plan to stay that way.
I gottcha noone knows your needs better than you. Maybe the 3037 is the right turbo for you and the things you like to do with your car. There arent any wrong turbos just wrong applications for a users needs.

I've driven his car and I'll bet it will run 11.9 to 12.0 on pump before the alky tune. I'm wondering if he can hit 118-122 and maybe 11.3 or so with race gas and more boost. We'll keep everyone posted.

LOL.

yeah, i bet ive been in more ATP cars than you have.....and you friggin owned one. Its funny how everyone, including Al said your turbo was crap and you still defend it. Why did you switch back to stock again?

How much seat time did you say you had btw?

Robert,

Thanks for the vote of confidence! The only problem is that I've only tracked the car that one time and I wasn't very impressed with my (not the car's....) performance. Yesterday morning I took the car out to a stretch of road that I use for trying to "feel" differences in the car after doing mods. It's about a quarter mile of warehouse road usually devoid of traffic.

Well, I did my first launch on the ACT clutch. It has about 600 miles on it now so I figure it was safe. I did as you said and took it to about 5000 rpm and started coming off the clutch. As soon as I felt it start to grab I came off much more quickly.......

Holy Cow! I felt like i was being shot out of a gun. I'm pretty sure a had a fraction of a second of wheelspin as confirmed by my passenger but the car hauled A*S!

At the track on the stock clutch with the stock turbo and my cams I ran a 13.0. That sucks I know, but what I'm saying is that this felt completely different than that night. I'm really looking forward to giving it another shot. If I can break into the 11's the car MUST be strong. Hopefully we can get out there on a Wednesday night, possibly next week.

Tony

I have a UTEC with a Tanabe 2.75" dp that was base-tuned with a slipping stock clutch by TTR to 20.5 psi max and later changed out the clutch. The car has stock cams, fuel pump, injectors, using the stock airbox, cat, and catback exhaust.
I installed the WR with a Cusco intake pipe (stock airbox and paper filter) and Helix hard pipes. After taking a short drive and checking for leaks, the wife and I went for a ride. I was impressed by the way it reacted but said nothing. The wife turned to me and said "wow, there is a lot more power" at that point I had only taken it to about 3/4 throttle.
I jumped on the parkway and punched it, she turned to me and said "damn".
It has not been retuned for the WR and will have Tomei 260 procams, 660 Densos, and a 255 pump before it gets a flash, and alky before the UTEC gets the full tune and dyno.
Bman are u going to e-town on 7/23 if so i hope u get tuned so we can see some dyno #s and also check out the wr on your car

gsujeff, sounds to me what you really need is a 2.3 stroker with a gt35r and alky. That would pretty much fit exactly what you're looking for. Not the cheapest solution, but hey ... gotta pay 2 play.

Also, as far as having a trackable car for road racing, the stock turbo is NOT superior to a gt35r. If you look at the stock gearing, your optimal shift points are going to be near redline in every gear, putting you at 5000+ rpms in the next higher gear - easily enough rpms to get mad power from a gt35r. Anytime you are allowing your rpms to drop below that, you are losing power due to gearing, hence the wider powerband of the stock turbo is really not that useful on a track. Certainly the stocker, as well as the WR will be far easier to drive, but a gt35r driven properly will beat them, which is probably why both Chronohunter and Racerjon prefer gt35r Evos for racing.

I am having 1/2 of the WR turbo installed with an alky kit, hopefully this or early next week. I just spoke to Tym Switzer today as I live about 2 miles form the shop, and he said that the turbo/Alky kit would be in by Thursday. I have BR stage 2 already installed on my car, so I guess I will be the guinea pig for the shop. I have already had the car Dyno'ed on their DJ, so we will see what improvements I will have made with this setup. Tym has already posted my dyno graph when he overlapped their WR turbo next to the 3 stage two evo's last month. My car was the Evo that made 270whp and 246wtq. I will have someone from Switzer's post my new graphs once they have tuned the car, as I am looking for a budgeted upgrade for my car. If the numbers are not satisfying, I can always upgrade the hotside of the turbo. BR stage 2 includes
AS TESTED:

FUEL - 94 OCTANE UNLEADED (NO OCTANE BOOSTERS OR RACEGAS)

BOOST - 19PSI

BOOST CONTROL - BR MANUAL BOOST CONTROL

INTERNAL ENGINE MODIFICATIONS - NONE

TURBO MODIFICATIONS - NONE

INTERCOOLER - STOCK

INTAKE MODIFICATIONS - BR AIR FILTER KIT, BR UPPER I/C PIPE KIT, BR MAF PIPE KIT, BR BATTERY KIT

EXHAUST MODIFICATIONS - BR 3" FULL EXHAUST

CATALYTIC CONVERTER - NONE

ECU MODIFICATIONS - BUSCHUR FLASH

FUEL TUNING MODIFICATIONS - BUSCHUR FLASH ( SAFC II W/ BR SPECIFIC SETTINGS ALSO AVAILABLE)

I'm hopin that it turns out like this badboy!

Jeff, The interesting thing is that I saw a 35R run 12.0 on pump with a 1.8 60. I didn't think this was possible without alky or something to suppress knock. We'll soon see on the WR.

The idea with turbos is to find one that makes more power at LESS boost or the same boost.

A turbo which can make more boost and more power with more boost (similar to say the old Br440 set up) is a nice improvement but you wont see many of the gains on pump gas.

A turbo - such as the Gt3037 which can make almost 75 whp more than the stock one at the same 20 psi on pump gas and which also can be turned up an additional 10 psi to 30 psi to make another 100 plus whp on race gas is a very good upgrade - (of course at the expense of additional lag).

In order to draw any rational conclusions - we would have to comapre AT SAME BOOST and also have data logs such as air charge temps and injector on times to really make any inteligent conclusions about which turbo is better.

Al in another post you said the 3076 was a bad choice for a turbo. Your are saying it is a good choice here. A 3037 is a 3076 from what I understand. I could be wrong though.

Close but the 3037 has a 60twheel 71 compressor and 3076 has a 56t wheel and 71 compressor IIRC

I am no turbo whizz - I can just tell you that my HKS GT3037 and GT3040 both blew away what ever numbers I could get from the so called GT3076 which has generally sucked.

However - I guess in all fairness I started to think the GT30 family of turbos sucked after I got into the Gt35 family. Now that I have graduated to the Gt40 I am stating to dream of the Gt42.

I guess the main lesson I learned with Evos is that big turbos are good.

Here is some data from ATP web site

"The "GT3076R-WG" packs the 500HP capable, quick spooling 52 trim 76mm compressor found in the popular GT3037 with the high flowing 90 trim turbine wheel found in the larger GT3071R-WG making it the highest flowing turbo available in the internally wastegated configuration. This turbo is as an ideal power upgrade for GT28RS/GT2871R/GT3071R-WG setups looking for a lot more power."

Yes, 20.5. I'm using the UTEC/ABC to control boost, not a MBC.

Is the Buschur BR500BB a 3076 or a 3037?
