Tym, what's the estimated turn-around for the core upgrade? how much for the ti wheel upgrade?

If you have an 03/04 with the standard steel turbine/9.8 housing, it can be upgraded with the compressor side of the rabbit. The cost of the upgrade will be $895.00. If you already have the TME with the ti turbine wheel/10.5 housing, then you can also upgrade the compressor side and have the Rabbit, again, for $895.00. The smaller 9.8 a/r housing will spool a little quicker, however, the steel turbine wheel will more than likely negate that benefit.

Robert is currently upgrading a couple of stock turbos (stock 9.8 and TME) for us to offer on an exchange basis for customers who would like to upgrade here at the shop. As long as the car drives in on a good core, it can drive out on an upgrade. We also have the dyno available for evaluation of the work performed should anyone choose.

I think this is a more cost effective option for most.

Take care,
Nice option. For 03 do you think it's worth it to go ahead and change to the 10.5 housing as well since the turbo will be out? How much additional for that? What's the total cost for driving the car there and leaving with the upgraded option on the car?

When I replaced my 03 turbo with the TME it was a BIG gain of power and a complete change in power delivery as well, now with the FP WR it's like having the car running on C. Meth!

Here are the benefits, quicker spool and more power through out the power band all the way to redline.

That is a good question. What is the turn around time, if you send in your turbo off you car to FP to have the WR compresor wheel installed, rebuilt and rebalanced? I forgot to ask yesterday when I was on the phone with Robert.

How much for the turbine housing with "improved wastegate design" ?

So let me get this straight. If you have an 03/04 with the standard wheel and 9.8 housing you can upgrade for $895. Does this give you the 10.5 housing with the upgrade or you keep the 9.8 and they just upgrade the compressor side?

Gathering from what I read only the compressor side gets upgraded. I wonder if this can be at home like the housing upgrade

So if you buy the full WR, does it come with the 10.5 hotside or..? (i.e., so basically the WR is just a new compressor wheel)

Most likely not, changing the compressor wheel requires rebalancing the rotating assembly. I wouldn't trust that kind of work to anyone other than professionals.

I believe it's a TME with a different compressor wheel. Need more pricing to do the math but it may turn out that buying a WR is the better option

I'd appreciate if anyone involved in the development of this turbo could comment on the potential effects on boost stability and overall peak power in staying with the stock 9.8 turbine housing on the 03 turbos over the 10.5 TME turbine housing when upgrading to the WR compressor side.

If you buy the white rabbit at the $1550 price it is a full complete turbo with a 10.5 hotside, Ti turbine wheel, and revised wastegate flapper design.

If you buy the $895 upgrade it only changes your compressor side. Your turbine housing (9.8 or 10.5), wheel (Steel or Ti), CHRA all of that stays exactly as it was when you sent it in.

From what it appears, the upgrade price is the same regardless of the core you supply, so basically upgrade the 9.8 and keep the 10.5 setup as a backup..

Bah, I was wrong.. Looks like if you send a 9.8 turbo, you get back a 9.8 turbo unless you buy or send a 10.5 housing with it.. the CHRA stays basically the same, if its a TiAl wheel, you get back a TiAl wheel and upgraded compressor wheel.. if its not, you get the standard back.. I missed Tym's earlier (edited) post..

Now.. Here's the only thing I'd ask for on my turbo, I'd like to have the Hot side thermal coated, and the compressor cover polished.. If Zeus or someone can figure out if those extras can be done, and for how much, it might be a popular item for us guys who have to show our cars as part of our sponsorships..
