David, What kind of boost pressure will the upgraded wastgate hold with EBC settings zero'd out?

Quote: Wow that's awesome. Better spool than stocker.
That is the least credible statement I ever heard since I joined this forum. 20PSI by 4000rpm better than stocker?
I'd give you a ride in my car, I hit 28psi peak by 3000rpm, stock turbo.

Check your waste gate rod actuator , you probably have a faulty waste gate actuator/membrane..

David,

I understand that you need a kit to put the evo9 20g on a evo8 primarily due to different cooling lines & oil lines plus a different lower intercooler pipe due to the different compressor housing and main turbo core. Is it possible to just swap in a evo9 compressor to the evo8 core so that there is no need for a kit & if the only reason that the lower pipe is different is due to the angle of the compressor, can it just be rotated to suite for the correct angle of the evo8?

Thanks.

the mounting points for the water lines are placed alittle bit differently on the 9 cover opposed to the 8 cover. As far as the LICP, I don't think it is a matter of the angle as much as it is how much farther the compressor outlet sticks down farther

The WG actuator, coolant lines, and oil lines are different because they need to clear the new and larger compressor housing, not because of any changes in the center cartridge. Same with the lower IC pipe, the size of the compressor housing means that the lower IC pipe connection will be positioned lower down than the evo VIII lower IC pipe.

You could probably use the instalation kit with the larger cover and have the equivelent of a stock EVO IX turbo, but it would probably be cheaper to wait for someone with a IX to upgrade to a full turbo kit and buy their stock turbo from them.

Man, I wish it were an easier bolt on. Having aftermarket LICP is really biting me in the *** now.

David,

Would you need a lower intercooler pipe if you already had your FMIC?
