It's all interconnected right?

We need more reviews from unbiased users...the vendors war is fudging the facts up badly

Having inspected all the popular ICs, I chose the Nisei unit because there is little doubt in my mind that the it is the most efficient IC presently available for the EVO at any price. I'm not observing any increase in engine coolant temp, just considerable power and cooler intake temps. To put things in perspective however, I'm not convinced the actual differences between the most popular ICs make that much of a difference in a real world setting. As far as power numbers, we're probably talking peanuts.

I have it and love it, I noticed some power gain but nothing too astonishing for my level of mods. The construction, quality, and finish are top notch, more than I can say for some other FMIC's on the market , plus the looks are worth the price of admission.

Any unhappy users of Nisei here? So far, we only have glowing reviews from users and a few negative ones from non-users and competing vendors. I will be going with Nisei in that case since its pretty clear who I shld be listening to

It is a direct replacement for the stock intercooler, mounting up to the stock pipings. I'm talking abt Evo8 here.

I love my Nisei. In fairness, I would say the AMS is a great piece too. Shiv likes it better because the turbolaters (sp?) are shorter

The only downside I see is it is 12 lbs heavier than stock and is mounted way in front of the front axle. The rear end feels a bit lighter under hard cornering.

That being said, all of the other aftermarket intercoolers, if they are any good, should be heavier too I would think.

I guess this is why Nisei is offering the mini battery. You get back to where you were at stock.

I think it looks like the evo X

How heavy is the stock intercooler? I have the Greddy Rspl and it weighs 12 pounds when I put it on a scale. If you are correct on the Nisei's weight, then their IC is not light. I paid 820 for the Greddy Rspl which comes with the lower pipes which I think is a good deal.

The Nisei is heavy. Heck, it's a 3.5 inch core

I don't think weight should be a consideration in choosing an intercooler meant for the streets. The light intercoolers tend to be of the tube and fin variety and one of their downsides is that they lack the thermal mass to absorb heat when the car is not at speed and airflow minimal. That's why they get heatsoaked easily and if your car is primarily street driven, I think the bar and plate variety is more useful. I was told that the Japanese manufacturers prefer tube and fin intercoolers because being designed for racing where the car is continually at high speed, less pressure drop and weight savings are more important. We must also know that tube and fin intercoolers are generally cheaper too. Interesting to note that the highend HKS and ARC intercoolers are of the bar and plate design.
