Problem with my MBC

Ok Ok, I was reading about what wartalon said about my MBC.

When I'm increasing boost I should be turning the knob counter clockwise turning the knob tighter...

When I'm decreasing boost I should be turning the knob clockwise turning the knob towards coming up...

I understand what he was saying now, so it was installed wrong because turning it towards the minus sign is increasing my boost because its as tight as it could be and I'm seeing 24-28psi on my boost guage.

I'm going to try to turn it back towards the Plus sign but it will make my knob come up and that should be decreasing boost.

Do you guys think I damaged my turbo running 25psi for a week.

If so I can go complain to the shop who installed it

it sounds like you still have it backwards... clockwise should be tighter = more boost; counter clockwise should be looser = less boost.

what kind of MBC do you have and where in boston are you located?

Hmm, no, that is still all backwards. Actually, it just seems like you have it all mixed up, and it might not be your fault, because the shop might have installed the vacuum lines backwards. Let me try again:

INCREASE BOOST = Turn towards plus sign, turn CLOCKWISE, tighten down. Max boost is with the knob tightened ALL THE WAY DOWN.

DECREASE BOOST = Turn towards minus sign, turn COUNTER-CLOCKWISE, loosen up. Minimum boost is with the knob loosened all the way OUT.

You got the clock directions backwards from my explanation, but you got the tighten/loosen part right. All of the things I listed above should match when increasing or decreasing boost, not just 1 or 2 of them...

I got a hallman..

I just moved to Malden in the Boston Metro, from South end.

Thanks all of you for the help, I figured buying the MBC because..

1. easier to install
2. easier to configure

I thought wrong...

You didn't think wrong. It's ridiculously easy to both install and configure, but you didn't install it yourself. That's your problem. I told you what to check in order to make sure it's installed correctly, but it doesn't sound like you've done that yet...

I did, I saw a small nut loose on the dial itself so I tightened it, didnt run any actual test drives, I just took it down the road and saw it hit 10psi. Still set lowest possible.

Yah your pointers did help out, I'm pretty sure this should fix the problem.

I really didnt feel like pulling anything out or touching much of the engine myself.

Do you think running that 25 psi hurted my Engine at all? I mean I saw it boost up there atleast 4 times. I have no mods to support that type of boost. If I set the MBC boost at 20psi I should be good with that, I'm wondering next time I look at my boost guage should I see it spike up any higher than that?

I've got the same BC, it is simple to install & use. If you want to bring it by the Waltham area I'll have a look for you.

Did you continuously hit boost cut??? Was boost constantly at 25 psi throughout the entire powerband??? Do you constantly drive the car like you stole it at all times of the day?? If the answer to all three of these questions is no, your car is probably fine.
