Hallman MBC gear differences

OK I installed at set at 20psi in 4th. (1.4 x100kpa) gears 1 - 3 , it would go up to 1.4 taper down slowly to 1.2, But in 4th 5th and 6th it would hold pretty solid at 1.5 all the way(at least in 4th I havn't been able to redline 5th n 6th)

I read that lower gears boost lower and is normal is that true?

I feel like after I installed MBC and Greddy catback exhaust , lower gears feels not as strong(the boost kick in more smoothly) but the top gears feel stronger,

Im not sure if I gained from this or not, Im thinking about taking the MBC off and just use stock setup plus AFC II

So other people with MBC, do you guys experience the same thing? or do you hold solid boost 1-6??????????? what should I do?

Yep, got the same thing with my old hallman BC. I read somewhere a flash will take care of that....I'm a little sceptical, but willing to try it since Al is coming out our way in Nov. I can post after that to see if it is ECU related....but I doubt it.

My Eclipse didn't do this...never had to FLASH those cars. It would be odd if we had to on these because I just don't get it.

if you are referring to the software taper you can't change that until you get a flash which i'm actually unsure actually works.

you wouldn't have to flash an eclipse because they never made enough stock boost to have it necessary to taper with software.

The spike in the higher gears can be eliminated by simpling using the little section of stock hose that has the restrictor in it on the boost source line.

I dont want to eliminate spike, Im not really getting spikes , I just want to know if I can get rid of the taper in lower gears, but so far its seems like a NO

in higher gears u have a bigger load and therefore will make more constant boost, this cant be helped it s the natre of our stock turbo. the only thing u could do is install forge wastegate actuator, it will help u make more constant boost in every gear.

the thing that bugs me slightly is that he said it felt slower than before. the tpaer should apply universally so the mbc should take ove and make things better across the board too, but he's not reporting this. maybe something to look into is wher eyou have your boost source tapped from... maybe it's from a laggy source and in the first few gears it's not given enough lag time to fully close the actuator as it should and then in the higher gears it does have this time and then does close up everything.

I was kinda worried about it feeling slower too? I really couldn't tell , it just felt smoother but im not sure about slower......maybe its all in my head,

right after my greddy catback the boost kickin it smoothed out , b/c before cat back, and wen i hit 3k there was sudden power, after catback it hit 3k but not that sudden jerk feeling but the boost amount was the same on my guage so I figure it was cool. I think stock used to tapper from 1.4-1.0 in first and 2nd? after catback was 1.4 tapper to 1.2.

btw my source for the MBC is tapped into the BOV line, that where everyone said was the best spot.

either way the 4th 5th 6th gear feels much stronger, its just gears 1-3 Im having my doubts if something isn't as good as it should be

the bov line is not hte best spot right? you should tap it right off the licp if you can, it eliminates a hose somewhere... i forgot what the diagram looks like but yeah i'm pretty sure turbo outlet is the best spot. in any case, could very well be in your head (i just thot you had very solid feeling about it) and things should be smoother once you have everything well sorted with no leaks.

I followed the diagram on this site during the install, I think most people agreed bov line was most consistance. Just to make this clear....once you install exhaust it thing suppose to feel smoother? b/c if it is then that just might be it
