Help Broke the spring bolt on downpipe

IT is near freezing here and i decided to put my turbo back on. Everything went smoothly but I tighten the spring too tight and broke the bolt. Now the bolt is stuck on o2 housing. I haven't started the car yet because still have work to do on o2 sensor wires. (Ultimate racing test pipe)

I know it will leak but will it damage my donut gasket while driving until i get that bolt out and replaced?

Would a shop be able to take the bolt out?

Do you have any sort of hi power drill our air tools?

If tou do go buy a easy out system from sears or where ever. the easyouts can drill into and remove grade 8 bolts with no problem, i've have to do it a few times on diffrent projects.

Or you can just drill it out and re tap it. eaither way it;s up to you and shouldt be that hard.

i also like the dremel cutting wheel to cut a slot in the bolt and just use a flat head to turn it out.

Good Luck.

snapon have diff sets that they sell i got mines for like 70.
it should work. but the think is. it will take a long time to take that
out when u have to work lying down on ur back and under ur car
unless u take or o2 housing out of ur car .
i dont know maybe there r shops that will do that .

Had horrible luck with this probably just going to end up drilling and tapping!

i had the same problem about two weeks ago. I just drilled the bolt out with a good drill and drill bit, spray the bolt often with wd-40 to cool off the bit. It didnt take me more then 5 minutes really. I then just used a nut and bolt to refasten the dp to the o2 housing. I had to buy a curved wrench though to hold the nut while i fasten the bolt.
good luck! its really not hard though!

So it would be piece a cake for a decent shop right? I ordered another spring bolt so I'll be going to a shop. Is it nessesary to take the undertray? If so I will take it down myself before I get raped in labor.

i have to take off my undertray to get to my dp. You could just try doing it urself and save a lot of money.

I don't see how one can work on the turbo and the o2 housing without removing the undertray.

It's pretty common. There's even a HowTo in the HowTo section on how to do this.
