That picture is of a B series Honda block. You can tell from the manufature date stamping on the head.

The Megan Racing, SS autochrome, Ebay...They all cracks...However, you have to give them some credits for pricing. Alot of people who are using them on honda are using it without putting any type of flex pipe on the exhaust. They just bolt it on without any concern of engine flex.

Even on stock exhausts on certain cars, I have seen them put on a flex pipe. To help with longevity, I recommend these...

I'm impressed... At least there are now some numbers to back up some of the same observations I've made. I have the JIC Exhaust header which is expensive and fairly short runner/equal length, and a DNP O2 housing, the material on both is much thicker than the Ebay parts, but you have to give credit where its due, the Ebay parts seemed to make the same power in my experiments.. With that said, the Ported/Coated exhaust manifold is a much better value.. The performance gains on a stock turbo between a header and manifold weren't that great, I can see the ported manifold doing the same or better than most of the headers. FWIW I haven't done any experimenting with my Evo8-20G, JIC header, DNP O2 housing combo, but I can see where the benefit is in using the parts with the 20G turbo.

Dave is brutally honest, and his results are definitely inline with what others have found.

Yea it really seems those manifolds are not worth the money, especially since the stock manifold offers the same. If there was at least a 10hp gain somewhere in the graph it would be justified. Maybe with a good head port it might show some differences or a different turbo who knows

this is so cool! LOL....yeah I recently ported my own stock header and hotside of the turbo and had both ceramic coated. I also have the Helix 02 Housing that I kinda had to clean up a bit, just rounded a few sharp edges and slightly port matched the parts together and I also had that ceramic coated. I wonder how the Helix piece compares to the Ebay piece? Any thoughts? I will say tho, that after ceramic coating, porting and the 02 housing, this car feels HELLA strong! LOL...I need to take it to a dyno...

Although I didn't go with Buschur on either the porting (I did my own) or the ceramic coating (I was kinda particular on the color for this mod and went with Performance Coatings), I really have nothin but good words for DB and his crew puttin in the work to get us the info we need...

Hey Dave, for those of us who do our own porting, do you think the gains would be similar? IS there anyhting special that you do other than smoothing things out and matching the ports in size? Just curious to see if what I've done is similar to what you offer (of course, maybe not as professional as you guys tho, lol).

I vote Dave for president...haha

Merry Xmas everybody

THANK YOU Timzcat!! I appreciate that.

The SS Autochrome manifold I have had in my hand and compared to others "like"it. I don't see it making any more power or doing any differently than the other header that I tested very similar to it.

Actually I have heard of quite a few of the 02 housings cracking. I am too lazy to do a search but am quite sure I have read it.

I sure enjoy doing testing. I've been talking about this for the last 3 days to anyone that will listen! haha My mom was getting a little board! haha

I searched and came up empty handed. Ive kept an eye out for threads about them cracking for over 6 months since I have been debating putting an 02 on sinceI got my car in Jan 05' and Ive still yet to see just one. Ive seen an threads on manifolds cracking like the SS, Megan and even JIC.

Dave,

Thank you for all your hard work.

Again, one of the reasons why I buy all my parts from Buschur

I want to cross reference this thread with the RNR manifold testing being done at TopSpeed in Atlanta. There (with re-tuning) the RNR manifold made 30whp more than the stocker.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...8&page=6&pp=15

page down about halfway for the dyno chart

How does this jive with the numbers Dave is reporting? DId Dave re-tune the car after each manifold was put on? Is Dave's car at a different level of tune than the Georgia car? I'm just looking for answers, because we seem to have 2 different results. I think more testing by more people is needed for a more difinative answer.

If there is a difference between them it would give me the information to decide if I want to go tubular or ported since the gains are close. If there are no gains between stock and ported/header manis changing the 02 housing would be the only part I buy.
I posted this before...this would complete the test, otherwise we will have what we have.

I did retune. The difference I see is my car was in a perfect state of tune at the beginning of the testing. I made my base pull the same day I made the other pulls on all three parts that were tested. Doug and I are talking in the other thread trying to find out the differences. To me, the test was not perfect, no offense to Doug intended.

I will try to dyno a stock manifold on my car. I gaurantee there isn't 30 whp in a ported version.
