The Ebay 02 definetely needs a brace on it like the stock 02. I know once I put mine on, I'm going to have one made just for extra support.

The EBAY 02 housing is actually the same exact peice as the Helix, Megan, etc. Ive had them all in my hands and they are 100% identical and they come with the same bolts and gaskets. Dont ask why Ive bought all 3, but I have lol.

Speaking of the DSM Shootout I think you should allow aftermarket o2 housings under your stock appearing class. I am pretty sure you didnt allow us to run that class with one last year. BTW I placed 3rd in that class not that there were many stock appearing Evos there.

Actually I dont think the brace is needed as much as an engine dampener is. Once you stop engine movement the exhaust isn't an issue.

I have a dampener and stiffer exhaust hangers .....I dont think I get any movement at all.

--------------------------------

I'm a little confused though.....in this post he said the car picked up 13WHP:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...2&postcount=20

Now he also says its more than likely due to the added boost. So what I would like to see is stock O2 compared to Ebay O2 at the same PSI. That would be more real world than testing at higher boost. (yes I know he couldn't go any lower)

Several things many of you should note from this discussion:

- The laws of physics don't care about 'bling', how pretty, ugly, or what the part costs. There is no shortage of expensive, overpriced parts that don't do much and cheaper parts that do.

- No one's reputation should be at stake here. One can invest hundred of hours into designing and building something, not knowing what the outcome will be, for better or worse. Be thankful that there are such persons willing to do it in the first place.

- As much can be learned from a part that failed to work as well as expected as can be learned from a part that worked better than expected. Edison learned about 200 ways how NOT to make a lightbulb before he was able to make one that actually worked.

- Power claims about specific parts shouldn't be made unless they have (past tense) been demonstrated through proper testing, and IMO, the details and results of said tests should be posted here for 'peer review'.

And finally, I'd like to see a test with the SS Autochrome manfiold. I have a funny feeling . . .

All this talk about the aftermarket 02s going to break, yet many people have had them for a while now and I have yet to see one sinlge complaint about one cracking. Manifolds are a different story though.

I agree with you until the ss autocrome manifold.. The reason I say that is because I have seen a number of them broken on honda tech... only way one can be used without breaking is by adding some kind of bracing to it...

I believe what Ted B means is that the ssautochrome manifold may be a surprise as the 02 housing did.

Exactly.

I might note that ANY exhaust manifold made of 304 stainless, regardless of who makes it, is subject to long term fatigue and possible eventual cracking. This is ESPECIALLY of concern with an aftermarket O2 housing, because the aftermarket housings eliminate an important factory turbo support bracket.

Please tell me your EVO motor isn't that dirty!

I am interested to hear what the gains on a stock turbo car would be.

Nobody is questioning if they break or what not, we are talking about power gains...
