Will a lighter driveshaft allow the turbo to spool faster?

I think I figured it out. The engine will just rev faster/more freely which will imrove the turbo's transient response. The amount of time it spools will be less. The amount of RPM it will take for the turbo to spool will be exactly the same.

What? It should have no effect on spool. What it does is reduce overall weight and reduce rotating mass on the driveline which will in turn allow more of your power to get to the ground.

I too had it on my sti and agree with your review. I had nasty vibration in mine at freeway speeds and despite much effort by ACPT it couldn't be alleviated. I assume it was just due to the one piece design (i was told that by acpt).

This thread got me interested as it would be nice if a carbon driveshaft could be designed, keeping the first bearing and eliminating the second, but i'd still be skeptical about the lack of side effects.

Oh well...time will tell whether the demand for a product like this will justify its design & production. I wonder how many STI driveshafts acpt sold. 100? 200 maybe?

Thats right vigo it will put more hp on the ground in the sense that it will reduce that mass effect and increase spool up because of the decrease of mass.Thats what you call momentum = mass x velocity
