I'm going to go with the DSS aluminum one that AMS's will carry I talked to the DSS shop about a year ago and they told me they were working on it back then.

DSS makes quality products and it should be fairly lightweight plus obvious benifits already mentioned and not as breakable.

If anybody has any more info please update.

My point IS that there should be an offering for daily drivers... My Evo IS a daily driver! The Race cars are only less than 5% of the Evo market. If they produce drive shafts for Trash trucks, then their primary market for the Evo crowd should be Daily drivers vs. Race cars.

I spoke to DSS at PRI as well. They said Martin just sent them another stock Evo driveshaft and they would have something in the next 2-3 months. Apparently he sent them one a while back, but they got busy and moved to a new shop and blah blah blah a bunch of excuses I didn't pay attention to, but they are working on it now and that's the important part.

I don't think it's a dead issue, it is just going to take some time. The best solution is to call ACPT, get an update, and then post the findings here.

I second ACPT. I had their CF driveshaft on my STi and it really helped with the revs, power seemed stronger and oddly enough shifting smoothed out a ton!

Has anyone heard from ACPT on this issue?

Will I gain whp by going with a 40 pound lighter driveshaft?

If a lighter driveshaft affects things anything like lighter brake rotors, it may show up as more power. Technically, it's not giving you any extra ponies in the engine...it's making the driveline more efficient.

Quote: Driveshaft Shop is supposed to be working on an aluminum shaft that will have a CV joint built into it to relieve stress. Their shafts for the DSMs were pretty nice and were fairly reasonable. It says it will be released soon on their website. (as to how soon, I have no idea)

Are they finally doing them? I talked to them over a year ago. They said about $1k if I remember right.

I'll have to call AMS and get an update.

That's what I always thought. My "guess" would be about 30whp with the driveshaft AMS sells.

AMS needs to do a test on the Torqline CTG carbon fiber driveshaft. I want to know how much the actual WHP gain will be.
