I get a clunk kinda noise when shifting to third. I find if i push the clutch in all the way/slow it dosnt clunk. Which hurts when your trying to shift fast.
Anyone else have the third gear clunk noise?

Man, all of these things don't sound to good, but then again maybe it's just the characteristics of the car and that's the way it's suppose to be. Can anyone clarify that yet? (whether it's normal or if it's a problem)
It is the differential
According to RMR, the differential housing will flex and result in the contact are hearing. They goint to supposedly release a fix for this at RMR. You might want to check with them. I have definately heard it and it IS LOUD>
as for as the clunk in the drivetrain, it's probably the rear diff mount flexing under heavy load. not something i'd really worry about, soon there will be heavy duty mounts available for the drivetrain. and yes, this is a common thing in the WRX, that's why they make the aftermarket mounts.
when shifting from 1st to 2nd and the shifter seems to jump out of gear with little effort is a good thing. it means that you are shifting at the correct RPM, same with most performance cars and the standard trannies that they come with. this is refered to as the sweet spot or you may have heard of some people shifting w/o clutch, this is done mostly by good drivers that know and understand the correct RPM for aggressive shifting. what you are experiencing for daily driving i would say that you are o k.
