Hi all.. Sorry if this is a newbie question but I just bought a used EVO 9 RS with 5000 miles on it.. The guy who had it before me installed a blitz boost controller with no other mods. How much boost can I be running? I live in California so I only have 91octain but I run NOS Octane booster. The car seems fine running 24psi peak. But what does everybody recommend?

 

I wouldn't go any higher than 24PSI, infact I would turn it down a little just be on the safe side. When my mods finally get put on, I plan on running at most 24PSI on 100 octane gas for a couple of 1/4 mile runs. Your running 24PSI daily on 91 octane pump gas (w/ some octane booster), personally I wouldn't do that. But hey if it feels fine to you, then go ahead. Atleast get a dyno of your car and check AFRs.

 

i wouldnt do run 24psi. The highest i would run is 22psi without a fuel pump or you could start detonating or hit fuel cut i think. Also if you boost past 22psi without headstuds you could warp your head.

 

dude i used to run 21 on 93 octane in michigan before i got tuned, now that my ECU is heading towards AL and my Warrtalon STage 1 is on my IX i am gonna be running 23 on 93 octance so i suggest u turn that thing down quite a bit...

 

The highest boost level you should be at and to stay safe is 22psi. You should only turn up the boost when running race gas, fuel pump (considering its tuned), aftermarket turbo, etc.....

EVO 9 is ok up to 24psi on 91.EVO 9 could go higher due to better knock sensor and smarter ECU.

 

No the earlier thread was me he didnt make 2.

 

He did make 2 - the other is in Evo General.

 

I dont agree. it does have a better ECU, but you cant run that high of boost and expect the ECU to keep you safe. i wouldnt go higher than 22psi.

BTW octane booster isnt doing much to help your octane level.

 

I am tuned and my 9 peaks at 21 and sustains 20 till redline. I am also using 91 octane.
