Cam Angle Sensor Gasket

Can anybody help me if I can just buy this part at the dealership?

How hard is it to install the gasket in between the triangular cam angle sensor plate? Can this be done with the right tools 10mm socket?

I've looked and there are only three bolts that holds the triangular metal plate from the cam angle sensor.

I'm having an oil leak at my cam angle sensor, and the gasket is the culprit. When they installed my cams they forgot to install the cam angle sensor gasket.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks guys

If I had that problem, I'd just use grey gasket maker on it and get the gasket at a later time. It is not hard to do at all, just take off the plate, clean up the small amount of oil inside and put a thin coat of gasket maker all the way around and lightly torque the plate back on so you dont sqeeze it all out.

while gasket maker is temporary, for something as crucial as cams and timing, i would get the actual gasket IMO... shouldnt be that expensive, and from the sounds of it, seems like you are close to where you need to be to install it, so a few extra minutes wont hurt

So I just take off the triangular plate? No timing adjustments necessary for this?

There is only three 10mm bolts holding the triangular plate, so I just take out the three bolts, take out the plate and just put the gasket in between?

Is it that easy to do? Thanks Again Guys

Thanks for the help guys. Can anybody that has the service manual give the the part number for that triangular gasket that goes in between the triangular plate?

Thanks

Yes it is very simple to do. When I order a part from the dealer, I give them my VIN#, tell them what I need, and they can find pics of it on their computer and show you to see if that is what you need. I'm not sure how many other people do that.

I guess I have to use the temporary way. Where do you buy the gasket maker? Pep boys? Autozone?

And how long do you have to let the gasket dry?

Thanks Again

Any of those places. I use the grey gasket maker on things that get oil on them plus it dries harder than the other. It should be ok to drive after 30 mins.

When you take out the plate is there any part of it inside that need to be taken out also? Or is it hollow inside behind the plate?

I have attached a picture of it below.

So I just put the gray gasket maker all around? Then install the plate back on?

Thanks Again

yes but i'd give it longer then 30... and get whatever gasket maker you can find that is rated at the highest temp. it says it fully cures in 24 hrs, in my experience with it, 2 hrs is plenty, 30 min may be ok for exhausts but around the block i'd give it some time.
