Spark Plug question

Today i bought some ngk br8es plugs for my 9 thinking theyll be the same as the 8's. But found out that the 9 plugs are different sizes. I want to go with a 1 step colder plug on my setup. I will be running meth and high boost so i want plugs that are colder than stock. Which Ngk's do you guys recommend? Also the stock 9 plugs are ILFR7H I did search but didnt find what i wanted to know.

The NGK 8s will be cold enough with meth.

Search 'spark plugs' most of the hits will go for the 9 setup. They are longer than the 8s, so the 8 plugs will NOT work correctly.

I cant give you a part number but the MIVEC head definitely requires a whole different spark plug. Apparently the 9s are more popular than the 8s though. Atleast on EvoM.

The 9s have a longer plug and I know that there are colder versions out there. Either search like I said, or wait til someone replies again.

They are out there man, just search around.

But are they long enough for the IX head? The MIVEC requires a longer plug reach.

do not use the shorter plugs in the evo 9 head, one heat range colder for the evo 9 are the denso ikh24 those are the 8 heat range, they cost around $11 each

NGK 8's dont represent the size it just represents the heat level.

Call NGK customer service directly. I talked to the guy there and he's pretty knowledgeable on what plugs to use depending on your mods:

Running methanol, in a way, kinda defeats some of the purpose of running the colder plugs. I run BPR7IEX at 26 PSI, with 0.025 gapped,on stock IGN spark and wire, spraying 625ml/min or more of methanol.

Think of it as running methanol may allow you to run one step hotter plugs

But if I'm wrong on this everybody, by any means correct me - evo power is a learning curve.

Look at it this way, if your not detonating with the 7 range (even with 350whp but with racegas or methanol) then there is no reason to go to a colder 8 - the plugs got to be somewhat hot so they can remain clean
