HKS clutch durability
Hi all,
I want to know if any of you know about the durability of the HKS twin plate clutch. I've had mine for about 4 mths and it was working fine. I then let my girlfriend drive the car and she slipped the clutch a bit more then I usually do. However it was not abusive, just numerous constant slipping at lights and hill starts.
The car now cannot get into gear. about a week after she drove it. I took it to my tuner and they said one of the disks is warped. this will occur with 8-10 slips of the clutch...
I don't know but,,, thats pretty weak, is there any truth to this? Thanks for any input.

That sound really strange.
hope there not that weak. I am looking for the perfect clutch now too, and am waiting to see responses here. I know with my stocker I thought i cooked it, but went to the track with some friends and after a few hard solid launches it was back to normal again. good luck.

I will be cracking open the tranny tmr. My tuner insists its a warped disc. I have never even dragged the car, just a lot of stop and go traffic driving. I have done a search and read the great thread that has a little to do with my situation.

I'm beginning to think my HKS can't take daily stop and go driving that I have to do. But this is even more concerning. A few slips a day and the plate warp? Exedy or cusco whatever. I'm very disappointed since this clutch costs so much.
Will post about he diag. I have at MOST 350whp.... 24psi on an Evo8 MR turbo.

THats really strange. I had that clutch running for close to 2 years with about 420 WHP at 22 psi daily driver although I do not drive it daily but at the point it slipped at over 600 WHP I still didn't have problems with it. THe discs do warped easily though and its not such a great clutch. Only thing good bout it is the pedal feel.
Am on ACT now, doesn't slip and holds ridiculously lots of power but has a heavy pedal feel and doesn't like to shift at high rpms. Still a good clultch though...

Odd issue. the clutch seemed fine. I'm not a tranny guy, but after taking the tranny out, the mech put it into neutral and both the input shaft and output shaft would turn together. He didn't crack it open to bother to see what was wrong. He just ordered a 2nd hand tranny which also doesn't seem to be working. I'll let you know on the progress.
