I would put a nice Haywood 4-link in it and Reys RWD conversion. Easy cake beating the current Evo 1/4 mile record.

Well here is some more pics:

I decided my old 10 point mild steel cage was too heavy so obviously it had to go:

I figured it was easier just to remove the floor

Obviously I needed to replace the cage and floor so that was next....

I also figured I would FINALLY need some slicks to help hook the car up considering I used to spin em badly and now it should weigh around 1,000 lbs less so I picked up these little guys....

And trust me... Ill take some pics of the rims mounted on the tires inflated... they are just above the hood line of a 2g eclipse. They arent small

And considering the size of the rear slicks I figured I wouldn't need much for the front so I settled for these....

I figured Evolving takes too long (Hence the title of the thread)... I figure this to be more of a Mutant

Ill get more pics soon with the funny car cage finished up and the rest of the 25.1 SFI cockpit. Ill also take some pics with the rears mounted on my mockup axle, the suspension, etc, etc...

The front suspension, brakes, hubs, control arms, steering system is still MUCH lighter than the stock k-member alone. I have no doubts about the car being light.

On a sidenote, I think I have AMS beat on thier teardown they did for thier time attack car

Here was one of my early cad drawings of what I wanted to do and make sure I pass the 25.1 spec:

The geometry of the car was slightly different than I expected so I did have to make a few changes. I also made a few different versions on the cad drawing to make it lighter or stronger or both but you get the idea.

That's some dedication my friend! Keep us posted as you make more progress... any time line in which you may think the project will done by... also is this a labor or love for weekend racing locally or are you going to be debutting this monster at one of the track series (Nopi, nhra) as a serious contender. Please elaborate on the motor specs... ie. size, turbo, power adders, power level ect... again congrats on such a nice project.

This is without a doubt the single most amazing thing I have ever seen done to an EVO. Bar None.

The path you have taken will be tuff..and there is no turing back now...but im sure you have already seen that.

As for engine mounting im guessing your going to keep the stock locations so you can use the same 4G63 and tranny/diff setup as a Evo, but with a RWD conversion. Plus im sure the changes included room for a driveshaft. But now my biggest concern for you all is the Body...now that the floor is cut out im sure the body is no longer strait..panels and doors might be a pain to fit...just a FYI. but thats if your even using the body and not going to a full one peice fiberglass body.

Please dont take this the wrong way..i would love to see you all succeed..im sort of a DIY'er myself. good luck and dont give up.

p.s gota love cad
