Being as I did the first RWD conversion I have already had all the critism you are getting now about doing it.

I think it's cool you did it and are making it RWD. It is not still an EVO though, no more than my RWD's were. I think the line has to be drawn when the factory driveline no longer exists in it's original platform, in other words, AWD. I had to go through all the s hit for years too, I was like you though and didn't give a crap what anyone thought about what I did. All I wanted was to go faster and stick with the car/engine I loved, same thing you are doing.

So, have fun, enjoy the project. I wish you lots of luck with it!!

Cool car.
Thanks Dave,

I knew Id take some sh t for it but you got it right.. Its my car which I enjoy. I like the engine and I like to go fast

Ill take some more pics of it once it starts getting closer. Half the reason it takes so long is the notching of each damned pipe.. I won't accept getting them "close" By the way.. tig welding upside down isn't easy lol.

As for the 1G thats in those pics.... Im not touching it as its not mine

Cool car.

That is one hell of a project. We have an EVO I/II here that we did the same thing too but its collecting dust untill we can get some time to finish it.

I am with David on his statement though. Thats a completely different league. It might have some EVO body panels on it but its not an EVO. It doesnt take away from how much work you are putting into it and innevitably how fast it should go, but an evo it is not.

All that asside that thing looks like its going to haul some ***. Best of luck to you and let us know if there is anything we can do to help you with your project.

Eric

Its my Evo Like Dave said, I knew I would get lots of the people that tell me its not an Evo but as far as Im concerned it is. I dont want to make this thread into me trying to figure out if its still an Evo or not either. Personally I dont believe you could really draw the line unless you are changing engines or body. The drivetrain I understand somewhat but what is the line on that one... swapping trannies to say a Dogbox is considered ok. Swapping a manual to an auto? What about an aftermarket auto? Swapping the rear end to say a Chevy 12 bolt (Not gonna mention names ). You get the point.

Its obvious its no where near a stock Evo but to me its really no different than a funny car cage in a DSM with a Chevy 12 bolt rear end and a dogbox tranny. Thats me of course. At any rate I like it and I am hoping to make it stupidly quick

Ill keep updating the thread when I get more pics or any other cool stuff :P

Honestly im not at all bothered by the fact that you cut up the EVO..its your car..why should i care?

BUT!...i would be seriously pissed if you didnt finish what you started!!

the voice of reason in me says put the vodka down and get serious....and dont forget the 80/20 rule.....
Considering I could be like 50% of my age group I suppose I could spend my "free time" in a much better way like playing video games or snorting Cocaine :P

Not sure what the 80/20 rule is but if it is play 80% of the time and work 20% of the time I agree and wont forget it

Its not sold but for sale, We always toss around the idea of finishing it up and I personally hope that we do. It is pretty far along but with the amount of customer work we have here and Two time attack cars and a drag car...its tought to find the time and space.

well i was meaning free time as in the time you like to go out and hang with your friends....i have done a few projects in my time and have spent a few fridays in a garage and not at a club...im not here to slam you..i want to encourage you to finish that ****. I myself am in the middle of a 300ZX rebuild...i had that car down to the frame...so i feel yah there.

a old school builder once told me the 80/20 rule...its something like this.. the first 80% of your work will take about 20% of your time..while the last 20% of your work takes 80% of your time... Its in reference to how money and momentum get low towards the end...and its where most people give up..

So maybe this Post will be good for your...it sets Goals....lol i sound like a guidance counselor...

but anyways yah good luck and if your in vegas the drinks are on me =)

I might be in Vegas next month actually so I may take you up on that one

And you can trust that Im gonna complete it... It is not on my huge priority list however. In fact it is near the bottom of the list. If someone wants to go drink, I drink. If Im tired, I sleep, hungry I eat, etc, etc, etc, untill sooner or later it becomes either sit around and watch 3rd rate movies or go tinker with cars... I go tinker with cars

I like it...thanks for messaging it to me and bringing my attention to it...I think our shop car will be getting a 9" after the first full season...I'm hoping to still keep it awd though...the 9" will just help get it out of the hole...
