Seriously... Who cares! Let him do what he wants. Its not all about the cars. Sure we like to go fast and impress a lot of people at the same time but we dont live by the cars. If we dont feel like going to the shop a certain day, WE DONT. If this car takes 2 months to finish, or 3 years to finish, it doesnt matter. The car will be finished no matter what, so there is no reason to put down the vodka right now!

Cheers Homie!

So, since the car runs on methanol, and you run on vodka.. If we were to donate some vodka to you, would that speed along the progress?

As far as the aero goes, I'm sure it wouldn't take much to make the body more slippery. Maybe just shape the front end like a doorstop, hell you seem to have access to a lot of metal, just make the front end out of aluminum or something.

Keep up the good work!! This is a hell of a project to take on, and I really cant wait to see the finished product.

Where should I send the vodka??

Man, I admire you guys! I would love to do that to a Evo! Since there is a trail back to MOPAR with Mitsu are you going to be putting a Strange built Dana 60 in her. Please don't tell me your putting a Ford 9" in a Evo

Honestly im not at all bothered by the fact that you cut up the EVO..its your car..why should i care?

BUT!...i would be seriously pissed if you didnt finish what you started!!

the voice of reason in me says put the vodka down and get serious....and dont forget the 80/20 rule.....
Actually - with some of the so called "drag" evos out there now it takes a sawsall and some tinted windows to hide the areas removed

This obviously is a much more involved process

In my area the chasiss shops charge $30,000 to create a tube chasis

I plan to have the car running by the 4th of July. It is a reasonable estimate considering the sheer cost involved and the time it takes... Tig welding is a very slow process

As far as the aero, yes it is a horrible platform to build a drag car of this magnitude but, Like 507 said.. it is one of a kind. My estimated ride height will be roughly 6.88" off the ground.. perhaps slightly lower in the front. The entire front end will be fiberglass sealed. I will install a drag spoiler to help diffuse the air in the rear of car. I will also spend some time cleaning up underneat the car with aluminum plating as well as the front and rear underside. It will help but it is still a very large frontal area that can not be avoided without lowering the roof line which I dont plan to do.

And yes, like Dynoflash said... any of these drag cars are not all that different. They still run extensive cages that get rid of any interior really anyways. There are lots that run slim to no interior. The big difference is I am twisting the motor and making it RWD. The reason for that is cost and speed. The parts I buy will not break. A transbrake lauch will also feel pretty impressive.. I look forward to running 1.1-1.2 60's eventually.

And the rear end will most likely be the custom Strange Housing, big bearings, either 35 or 40 spline axles, etc, etc...

And I did save a few bucks by building the chassis myself Just lost some time but considering its my hobby its not like I am giving up anything... I enjoy playing with it all. And dont worry... the car will be finished. I didnt spend $30k on a brand new car and god knows how much money shoved into it just to throw it away

I need to stop by the shop and meet you in person. Such a cool project, and I'm excited to see her run this summer.

Good luck.

July 4th, we'll hold you to that... LOL, not. Anyhow, go luck; and despite what the haters tell you, it's still an Evo!!! Drag Evo FTW!

Very cool project and the quality of the work looks extremely good.

Being as I did the first RWD conversion I have already had all the critism you are getting now about doing it.

I think it's cool you did it and are making it RWD. It is not still an EVO though, no more than my RWD's were. I think the line has to be drawn when the factory driveline no longer exists in it's original platform, in other words, AWD. I had to go through all the s hit for years too, I was like you though and didn't give a crap what anyone thought about what I did. All I wanted was to go faster and stick with the car/engine I loved, same thing you are doing.

So, have fun, enjoy the project. I wish you lots of luck with it!!

Cool car.
