I welcome the testing, just make sure it's done correctly. Don't do the test like some other company did and showed drops below ambient air temps with THEIR intercooler.
I've said it before, I'll put our exhaust, FMIC's, I/C pipes, engines, heads up against anyone's.

Rock on with the testing.
+1, that was kinda Freaky. But Dave didn't that specific core do almost as well as your Race core?

My guess is that although a stock intercooler gives plenty of power,
The greddy for supra (i.e. big) or one of the race cores will do pretty much better than the others.
This because in normal dynos they can not measure the constant cooling that a bigger intercooler can give, this and the fact that the turbo has been upgraded and there is more flow.

Kudos for a great idea for our community!!!

I dont have unlimited funds to do this. I have invested enough already without asking for any support. All the coolers in the test have a different core design. The turbo xs from what I can tell in pics uses the same cores as ebay AMS 17row and ebay 24 x 12 x 4 core.

Lets get the cores I have tested first. Then decide if some other cores should be tested as well. I might be willing to test some others if the results have a large variance in performance.

for the person who said megan tbe vs bR... megan has been proven to NOT perform as well as some of the name brand exhausts. you get what you pay for when you buy megan.

just a thought... for this IC testing... how long does it take to swap an intercooler... or perform each test... i know here in seattle your lucky to get same temperature 2 days in a row, or even close.

not sure how this test is going to be done, but is this a factor you need to take into consideration? i mean how many tests can you get done during the same temperature?

just thinking...

The only reason why the Megan unit didn't perform as well is because it had a resonated test pipe. Either way it has run GREAT times.

I was wondering about this too. I don't know where you live, but ambient temperatures can change drastically throughout the day and into the evening which can effect the temperature of the charged air going to the tb. I'm curious as to how you will account for these variables?

I live in florida. temps dont vary that much here. but ambient temp will be recorded. Will likley run in day and nite for each cooler.

Thats a good idea....hopefully the weather will remain somewhat constant. Just make sure that Buschers is on when you test and its 60 degrees and raining!!

I really appreciate what you are trying to do. Everyone just has to remember that there are other factors besides horsepower. Fitment without rubbing, mounting points, rugged design, and profile. By profile, I mean to say does it hang so low that on lowered cars you have to worry about smashing it on driveways, curbs and other road obstacles.

I completely agree with smogrunner. I see time and time again when people only compare numbers, without giving much credit to fitment, finish, fitment, etc. I would appreciate it if you could include a small writeup on install, fit and finish

I realize most of those FMIC's are made to bolt up to the Evo except for the Ebay 31x12x4 unit. If you haven't had a chance to figure out a mounting solution for that one, let me know and I could send you some pics of my setup if it would help.

Otherwise good luck with the testing. I look forward to the results.

People! For those of you who keep trying to push a point repeatedly, let it end here. If after the testing your point proves true, then feel free to gloat... ONCE! Anything more pretty much will be deleted, points issued.

Most of US, yes US, have been waiting a long time to see a third party do such a test. However, let the man do it, and keep the bickering a side before it starts. I'd say I speak for the majority when I say it would be very disappointing to see this thread go the way others have in the past.

From me personally, as a member, thanks 94AWDcoupe for freely sharing your hard earned info!

Hopefully your EVO brethren will step up and buy these off you for decent price, knowing that you're sharing your results to benefit the EVO community.
