Fuel pump whine?
Just got my 04 evo. BONE stock as far as I can tell. There is a really really loud whine from the trunk, and it gets louder when I get on the throttle. Is something wrong or is this normal? Its VERY loud and noticable.
Um
My Walbro isn't that loud. I can only hear it when I'm at low idle (900rpm). But then again, I have turbo back exhaust so I'm sure if I had stock exhaust I could hear it all the time.
But anyways, I hope it's not your transfer case or rear diff... cause that would really really suck
Easy way to tell... pull the back seat out and put your ear up to the driver's side fuel tank access panel... if that's where the noise is, then yes, it's fuel pump.

you would have to take the rear seat off, unbolt the fuel pump cover, disconnect the lines, pull up the fuel pump sending unit and look on the fuel pump itself to see if its a walbro (342) >>> will be stamped on the pump itself.
The Whinebro can be pretty loud.
It can be a pain to get the pump out sometimes so you might as well order another walbro while you are taking it out to check.
The pump will be quieter the more gas that is in the tank.
