Stewart Warner boost gauge?

I installed some SW gauges a few weeks ago. And I took out my Autometer 30/30, and put in a 30/40 SW.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=262887

The first gauge I got was f'ed up, it reacted really slow and it was only showing 20psi max boost, were the autometer showed 23 . So I reinstalled my Autometer to check and make sure the line wasnt pinched somwhere, and it worked just fine. So I ordered a new 1 cause I didnt want to deal with sending it back ect...

So I get the new gauge and the needle is moving fast now when in vaccum and hitting the gas, but it only shows 20psi max boost

I have heard SW is one of the finist gauges out there but I am thinking differently Also the needle on both gauges I bought were sitting below 0.

WTF should I do, I mean is it possible for a the Autometer to be off that far.

I turned my boost up to 22/23 tonight on SW gauge and logged the car with Evoscan and I showed 0 knock, A/F checks out good on my UEGO in the high 10's on 94 pump.

I am chicken, here and need some advice!

First off, that autometer gauge isn't known for acuracey so I'd take its reading with a grain of salt. The best you can hope for is consistent inaccuracy, ie if its 2 pounds off its always 2 pounds off. Most mechanical guages aren't 100% accurate, just consistent.

Even the electronic ones seem to suffer from this come to think of it.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

I had to exchange 6 SW boost gauges before I got one that was zero'd out.

Good product but POOR quality control!

Other than that I have had no issues at all. It is just as accurate as my Defi was (which was DEAD on the money). Autometer can tend to read off of the actual setting.

If your logs check out what are you worrying about?

I'll be testing the accuracy of my SW gauge soon after I receive my JDM IX map sensor. My autometer was reading 2-3psi higher than the SW.. so one is definitely off .

I also had to exchange the first SW gauge I ordered due to it not being zeroed out. The second one I received was spot on and works great.

If you have a mbc, how can you accurately check what your boost is? Fairly new here, but Im thinking that the logs would only show boost levels if you have the stock bcs hooked up, correct? Im looking at my logs, and apparently wasnt logging boost. I have an autometer, and would just like to see how off it is.
