I installed mine 6 months ago (1X1), with no sort of oil/coolant leak, running a GT30 28psi, blah blah.. Yes, the right way would be pulling the head, but I heard people being successful in doing the 1X1 way also, so I went that route, and everything seems fine *knocks on wood...

Correct me if I am wrong, I thought it would be helpful to leave as much as you can hanging of the head (intake/exhaust manifold, turbo, etc, etc) to keep the head "seated" as much as possible without movement...

Just my 2 cents

Good luck either way

Pulling the head.
Draining coolant.
Taking the upper ic pipe off of the TB
taking battery out.
Removing pass side motor mount to access timing belt,
taking timing belt off,
taking bolts out of intake manifold stay (bolts the block to the intake manifold)
there is more but thats just like the basics. its not a bad job Takes 1.5 hours or so to get the head off
maybe 2

1.5-2 hrs with 2 people that know what they are doing.

6 hours or more for the rest.

It would help you remove the head if you removed the head bolts, exhaust manifold to turbo bolts, oil feed line, radiator, 10mm coolant turbo feed line, engine wiring harness, injectors clips, IAC harness, TPS clip, throttle cable, intake ground, MAP sensor clip, knock sensor clip, vacuum lines and various other connections.

I think he means leaving the components attached to the head on the head because their weight will keep the head "seated" for the 1x1 method.

The funny part is TTP is the retailer of ARP headstuds. If we are telling you they are not needed while we would love to sell a set, that should tell you something.

I done the one by one method on both my EVO's and I have no leaks whatsoever.

It gives me the confidence to push my cars to 33 psi on my stock evo 9 turbo and 31 psi on my big trim GT30...

Without headstuds I personally would not push my cars that hard.

I bet the fastest players didn't use the 1x1 method on their cars.
